Re: Chinese 125cc + Honda IMA motor
That's hilarious Cole, I have two and a half weeks/100 hours and counting on this project. When exactly did you fund most of that? Your sponsorship has been appreciated and broadcast on every platform I have a presence on but your claim is incorrect. Those three boards you ordered have been built ...

Re: Inverters Capable of 1000A DC
You're using a Lebowski chip in yours though, right?
I'm not capable of dev work, so whatever we do, we'd be reliant on others to design and build the boards. We're running an induction motor, so I think the Lebowski chip is out?
I'll check out the Zapi!

Inverters Capable of 1000A DC
Are there any salvage inverters with openinverter boards capable of 1000A DC or 900A phase?
I'm very open to running a salvage inverter if there's one capable of 1000A for 75ish seconds.

Re: Tuning the small drive unit with charts
I can't easily generate an XY scatter plot, but here's a plot with RPM x 10, battery current, and motor current.
This is using my conservative recommended settings (run22-full.json) at full throttle with a load of a 1100kg vehicle.
Thanks! That would seem to indicate that the torque knee is ...

This is some really great work, thank you!
Do you have and can you share any plots of RPM vs. battery and motor current?

Re: Chinese 125cc + Honda IMA motor
Check out the ES forums where some guys have been working on a drop-in board for the IMA controller. I personally funded most (edit: some!) of the development on it and a guy who goes by kiwi is doing the work. He should be able to sell you a board.

SDU Tripod Boot Kits
I needed to remove the tripod boots to do some turning and splining work on my front SDU axles and am having trouble finding a proper boot/boot kit. Anyone know a part # for them?

EV Conversion Tools
Hey Guys, I thought it would be nice to have a thread for tools we use while working.
Here's a list of the tools I use pretty much every day, or at least on every EV project I do.
1. True RMS Multimeter - Fluke 289

The cores are the 090S model, not the DOM, at least as far as anyone can tell.

You guys have any source for the board connector: SM24B-CPTK-1A-TB(L) ? I can't find one in stock.

Re: Tesla Small Drive Unit - Safe shutdown?
I don't think it is as much of an issue with the contactors opening since PWM will have been shut down. In my case, the breaker I was testing with blew and PWM was still active.

Makes sense, thanks. I'll continue to dive into it and start looking for another inverter in the mean time.

Re: SDU Overcurrent Always On
Reassembled the board onto the inverter (still disconnected from motor) and was able to boot it without throwing the OC alarm and thus opening the contactor. However, the second I apply throttle, it trips. That's the start of PWM and would point to an IGBT/driver issue, eh?

Re: SDU Overcurrent Always On
What, on 60V? Can you try starting your setup again? You could fry one of the driver chips, not necessarily IGBTs. If you can check how the chips look, maybe you can spot the one that is toasted. Usually they use NPN transistor with a pullup as a failsafe fault output...
Just yesterday i made a ...

Hey All,
I've had my SDU spinning in manual mode for a bit now. Today, I wired a full bench setup with contactors, throttle, precharge, etc...
I had it spinning well for a bit with a 56V battery and 3A circuit breaker, then pulled a little too much current and tripped the breaker. I tried flipping ...

Thanks! I figured. How random that it got stuck on the drive unit somewhere and happened to fall off on my build table right where the inverter was.

Tesla SDU Random Fuse
Pulled apart my front SDU and I found a random fuse laying under the drive unit when I was reassembling it with the openinverter board. Best guess is that it got left over from the unit being pulled out of the car, from the LV fuse box, but I wanted to check here, anyway. I don't see where it could ...

Re: Prius Gen2 Inverter DC Motor Controller
I'm interested in this, but my ignorance is showing here. How does the PWM split between all the IGBT's? Same question for the current sensors. I'd be wanting to run this in a Honda IMA inverter.
