Update - ZombieVerter arrived. So things to do include:
1) remove the fossil-burner boat anchor
2) Decide on batteries and purchase them.
3) Wire it up.
It is my understanding I will need a battery voltage >> 200V to run bypassing the boost stage on the inverter. Ideally 650V. This pretty much rules ...

Re: Hazel's GS450h build thread.
I guess you'll be around stock Lexus voltage so using the inverters boost stage would provide full speed but not a massive amount of power as I understand. However, if you're geared correctly, it will spin at that voltage with a direct connection to the DC bus (eliminating the boost stage) but ...

Re: Hazel's GS450h build thread.
I really want Tesla 4.3kWh packs, because they are simpler to cool. But I only have budget for 9. Does this even sound feasible? The pack Voltage would be around 225V.

Re: Hazel's GS450h build thread.
Seems like you could fit 10 Tesla Model S modules in that space. Could give you 40+ kWh. Even more if you want to add some to the trunk or where the gas tank is.
Yes, that is one option, but will likely cost me £7000 to go that route. There is also BMW i3 modules, 6 of them would give me 36kWh ...

Hazel's GS450h build thread.
Hello.
I thought I would start a build thread for my project. We have two Lexus GS450h in our household, 1 running 2009, and a dead 2006. I bought them both as non-runners from Copart. I managed to get the 2009 running by replacing the HV inverter, then I got carried away and bought another one ...

Re: Communicating with the Lexus GS450h Inverter/Converter
Coincidentally I've been looking at this today. Here is a picture of what Lexus calls the Hybrid ECU from a 2009 Lexus GS450h. This unit talks to the inverter using 4 CAN-like interfaces.

Re: Damien takes Zombie GS450h on dyno
I just got a (running) GS450h. It is a very, very fast car. The book states 349hp, with the engine providing around 300. It is my understanding that all the engine power goes into MG1 -> 650V then MG2 takes some additional current from the battery to top up to around 250kW. So in theory the GS450h ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
Today I removed the Hybrid ECU from my GS450H. I think it would be possible to create a new ZombiVerter ECU to fit in there. This surely would be the easiest way to make a BEV car...

Re: Separating L110 transmission from 2GR-FSE engine (Lexus GS450h) [SOLVED]
I'm curious to get an idea of the weight of the engine. I plan to remove my engine from my GS450h and fit in some batteries, so it would be handy to know how many I could fit.

Re: Blown GS450h hybrid inverter repaired (with cheap camry inverter parts)
I found an inverter for a Toyota Crown G9200-30070 and put it in my dead GS450h in place of the G9200-30051. It works ! Conclusion then must be the Zombie VCU will work with the G9200-30070 Inverter.

Re: Blown GS450h hybrid inverter repaired (with cheap camry inverter parts)
I am about to embark on a GS450H inverter repair. So far I have followed the lexus_tech diagnostics using techstream which revealed fuse14 (IGCT No.2) a 7.5A fuse keep blowing. Is this normal for a blown IGBT or do I perhaps have an issue on the logic board ?
