I have not personally taken apart a 50kWh battery, but I'm familiar with the modules inside.
I've been using them for energy storage projects. They are 6S2P configuration, CATL cells, 2.74kWh, each with BMS PCB based on MAX17823B. Some of the latest batteries use the newer MAX17854.

Re: Peugeot e-Expert, Vauxhall Vivaro e, Citroen Dispatcher Batteries
Hi Tom,
I've taken apart a 75kWh battery. It is made of 27 modules with a 4S3P configuration for 108S. The cells are from CATL. I've attached some pictures.
The BMS is based on MAX17823B, with nine BMS PSCB in a 12S configuration.

Re: Searching for Tesla "Batman" chips
A brief update that can help someone in the exact search.
I found a complete set of secondary BMS modules from the Tesla Model 3 2022 (a challenging task).
And discover that the so-called BATMAN chip is LTC833-E.

MG5 LR Battery
I'm sharing information about the MG5 LR battery I used in energy storage projects.
The 61kWh battery has a 96S1P configuration and uses giant 174Ah NMC cells from CATL.
The cells are arranged into six modules with two 8S groups.

Hi,
I am working on an ongoing project using Tesla Model 3 battery modules.
I plan to use Damien's breakout board for communication with modules and am looking for Tesla "Batman" chips.

I think these sensors are NTC, probably 10k. They are used widely for temperature measurement in batteries.
Regarding Infineon MCU, I've seen the same in Pegout e208 BMU. In that implementation, the BMS gives much information, including cell voltages. More info in this thread: https://openinverter ...

Re: Peugeot E-Boxer NMC cells reuse modules.
Based on my observations, liquid cooling is not needed for this application. This battery can handle 10kW without problems, and the temperature increases by a few degrees. Here, I talk about 400V configuration, but with proper reconfiguration, this will be the same for an LV application.

The main chip is Panasonic AN84912UA 12584040, 6 times.
What a wired BMS solution! I can't find any information about this chip.
Panasonic transferred its semiconductor business to Nuvoton. Now, there are some BMS chips:

Do you have a pinout of the battery data connector? Without a schematic, finding proper pins won't be easy.
But I don't understand if this battery is standalone or in the car.

Interesting BMS solution.
I suspect that communication is some variant of the ISO-SPI protocol. It usually uses a two-wire connection, and I see a small PCB in the picture with two wires and an isolation transformer. This link probably goes to the central BMS.

I guess that the board over the cell looks like this:

There are four wires between each module, but they are only communication (RX and TX pairs). The cells power the balance PCB.
It's possible to reconnect all modules (18) to the central BMS and to get cell data. Some people try to do ...

Probably, those are the same modules used in Peugeot e-208 and other cars from the Stellantis group.

It's possible to reuse it, but it requires some specific hardware for communication (PCB with MAX17841B).

Re: Running Peugeot E208 modules with Battery-Emulator
The BatteryEmulator is a bridge between one BMS and another. Its not really intended to be capturing cell data and acting like a BMS in of itself?
I agree with your opinion. We need some basic BMS functionality implemented in the BatteryEmulator. Some of them already exist, like a contactor and ...

I've rechecked things and can confirm that the temperature is encoded with an offset of 40, as Tom91 suggested.
We need to subtract this value to get the actual cell temperature.
I think it is possible to use fewer modules, but the number must multiplе by 3, e.g., 27,30,33, etc. Each BMS circuit is ...
