Re: [FIRST DRIVE] Citroën CX and Tesla SDU

The project has less priority because I bought a new house that needs to be renovated (but with garage)... did you buy a pack? Or 8 "loose" modules? No I bought 8 loose modules for cheap. Probably, they are recalled modules that were sold. I am now balancing them to equal voltages. But tha...

Re: Simp BMS

Hi, I am using an EVS BMS with VW MEB 12S modules. The BMS is working, but now I want to balance the cells (properly this will take weeks, but anyway). The battery status shows "Balancing Active" and sometimes "Balancing Paused" : BMS State: Ready || Balancing Active Modules: 5 C...

Re: [WIP] Citroen CX and Tesla SDU

Update: The drive unit is working now at high voltage. So, up to the next problem :) I thought to have 5 stable battery modules (I started with 8 modules). But again, two modules have cells below 3.3V Probably, I bought a batch of bad modules; that's why I am going with 5 modules (4 in front, 1 in b...

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

Ok, the third Inverter is working at 180V :) I Changed R56 for 56k Ohm, so the 5V bus is at 5,3V (instead of 4,9V), but this was not the issue, I think What I think I did wrong with the previous 2 inverters: In my test setup, I don't have a negative contactor, but I have used the service disconnect ...

Removed the power-stage from the casing (like this https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2345 ) You can also remove the power stage without removing the cover. Re: SDU: No udc voltage

I got another (3th) inverter, this time with drive unit. This one also passed the diode test, and with a bench power supply the udc reading is working. But now I am a little afraid to hook it up to HV. So first, I want to check if the parts I didn't change are OK: OpenInverter Board: I have a V8 boa...

Wanted: Tesla SDU Inverter

Hi,

I am looking for a working Tesla SDU Inverter to use with Openinverter board.
(shipping to the Netherlands).

If you have one, and willing to sell, let me know.

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

What I don't understand is that if the inverters were already broken when I got them (so they were broken at high voltage), why did they work at first (when I tested them) at a low voltage? When I applied a high voltage, the inverters stopped working. But after that, the inverters didn't work at low...

jrbe wrote: Thu Jan 18, 2024 11:45 pm Do any of the other analog inputs work? ( Like throttle, temp, etc.)
Yes, the OI board seems to be working fine. All inputs are working, and when applying a voltage on pin 1 of the power-stage connector, I get an udc reading in the web interface.

No, It doesn't come back at any voltage.

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

The inverter arrived, it passed the diode-test. Then I tested it with a bench power supply (max 30V), UDC reading was working. Today I installed it in the drive-unit, applied 180V and the UDC reading is not working any more. (PRECHARGE error) So bad luck again?! Where do I find a working SDU-inverter?

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

I have ordered another inverter, and I hope this one will work. What I don't understand is why at first the inverter worked (@48V), then I connected 190V, and it stopped working (the UDC-measurement). One thing I did wrong was that I connected the gas pedal potentiometer the wrong way to the OI-boar...

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

The precharge circuit is providing current, so this is not the issue. With the inverter now removed from the car, I checked: * IGBT (diode test) test results are OK; * A visual inspection of the driver-board seems OK; * HVIL circuit was not working (bad contact in DC- connector), So I disconnected t...

Re: [WIP] Citroen CX and Tesla SDU

Thanks,
Yes I can charge 1 cell individually, but this will take a few days at 200mA.
What is the minimum cell voltage of the VW-MEB-12S batteries? 2,5V of 3,3V? I assume 3.3V

Re: [WIP] Citroen CX and Tesla SDU

The EVS-BMS and Tesla Gen2 charger are now wired up. I am waiting on parts for the cooling system. But the BMS cell voltage is low for some cells. A few weeks ago I assembled the battery boxes and the lowest cell voltage was 3.12 volts. Today I read the cell voltages (I assume the voltage drop has t...

Thanks for te response. I don't have a 100W lamp, but I will test (this weekend) the prechare system by pulling some current via the dc/dc (Tesla GEN2) converter. I am afried that i have to remove the inverter from the car for futher testing.

Re: SDU: No udc voltage

Changing the precharege voltage to 160V didn't make a difference. With the webinterface it is hard to measure udc at precharge. But is think it is reading udc= 1.96V all the time.
At precharge i meassure 1.93V across the resistor.

8+5+8mm is better i think. Looking forward to see your build. My design of 10+5 mm is a little thin.
I am using a 10mm plate where a will tap some threat for nipples to connect the hoses

SDU: No udc voltage

I am using a (front) SDU, I have had the drive unit working with 48V. Now I supplied 186V, the precharge contactor closes (udcsw=175V) but after five seconds it opens again. Error code "PRECHARGE". The inverter isn’t reading any voltage (udc around 2V). I measure 186V on the cables going t...
