Re: GS450h is jerky
I haven't experienced this myself but one of the reasons Toyota/Lexus hybrids become jerky in electric mode (according to John Kelly of Weber) is if one or more of the stator windings has shorted or partially shorted. Just to eliminate this possibility you could try checking the resistance of each ...

Re: Newb question on GS450H
Nobody on this forum has done it, just a couple of others here saying they also wanted to do it. The big hurdle seems to be that someone needs to reverse-engineer the software. All the other functions are described in other places, but someone needs to bite the bullet on the software to get the ...

So with the Microchip CAN Bus Analyzer, you're winning now?
It's just I want to get something to analyse can bus coms but not sure I want to spend $200AUD on one, but if it's superior and easier to use than other options then maybe I'll get one.

Re: GS450H Discussion
Running MG2 only until we request a certain torque value makes a lot of sense, since we run these motors via a torque request, there shouldn't be an issue with bringing the second motor online.
I'm not sure how the inverter will handle this, however. If we request 0 torque from MG1, will it ...

Re: any source for Lexus gs450h can hacking?
Before removeing the ICE you make some canlogs. Of the time it was happy.
That's your starting point.
Then the next step is to do a MIM on the MCU now you know what it sends.
Now you replay only those ID's of the MCU of your recording.
If the car is happy now you have enough data to proceed ...

Sounds very sensible, heat is the enemy of solid state power electronic devices. However, your photo bucket settings say 'the owner has set ... to private' so I can't view your photos. Is it possible for you to simply upload pictures as attachments instead of linking to some third party hosting site?

Re: Where to buy SDU Molex housing?
The housing clips into the Tesla casting so I reckon that's made just for Tesla. The listed Molex panel mount ones don't do that and they max out at 12-pin, no 20-pin panel mount version listed. I reckon your best bet is to send a pic to Molex and pray that a good person there sends you the housing ...

Re: Where to buy SDU Molex housing?
Looks like a panel mount housing but what's going into the back of it? The way you describe it being 'straight not right angle' sounds like you're saying it is PCB mount at the back but without pics how can we tell?
It might be proprietary for Tesla, made by Molex? I wonder if you can send your pic ...

Re: Where to buy SDU Molex housing?
It's 'Keying B' type, so if it's a male housing it's Molex part 33482-2102. If it's a male header (PCB mount) it's Molex part 34830-2002. If you go to Molex and search these then click on the 3D viewer you'll see the keyway types match yours where it's broken. The stock pictures on Molex datasheets ...

All you need is a high current source and a sensitive voltmeter, then let Ohm's Law do the rest: R = V / I. A good way to get such a high current source on a budget (assuming you don't already have a high current bench PSU) is to use the 3.3V or 5V line of an old PC PSU and some resistance ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
You are asking for the stator winding resistance right?
Or you asking for resistance from winds to aluminium case of transmission? This number should be above 100meg ohms.
Those readings were taken directly of the electrical posts of MG1 and MG2.
I had removed the cables going to MG1 and MG2 so ...

OK I just measured mine, still sitting on the bench.
Room temp was about 0 Celsius
Using Pro quality Fluke MultiMeter
MG1
L1-L2 = .2 ohms
L2-L3 = .2 ohms
L1-L3 = .2 ohms
MG2
L1-L2 = .3ohms
L2-L3 = .3ohms
L3-L1 = .3ohms
Thanks for taking the trouble to measure those Tony but that's probably ...

Re: GS450H Discussion
Is anyone here with a known good GS450h transmission able to take mΩ readings of the stators in MG1 and MG2 for me?
Mine measure rather uneven and I'd like to compare with a known good example in case I melt an inverter & harness powering up a bad stator.

Hi Dan, is it possible you're thinking of the LEXI project, not the BEXUS (BMW E65 powered by L110 transmission)?
I believe LEXI is on ice at present, it had been planned to start that in earnest as part of a training course, I could be wrong about that.
Anyhow here is the LEXI thread:
