HV Split Phase Inverter Recommendation
I wish to add battery storage to my existing grid tied system. I plan to use Taycan battery modules with WDR gateway and 10-12kW hybrid inverter AC coupled to the exiting system. The Deye hybrid inverters have been recommended. However, I cannot find anyone on Alibaba (the only place I have found ...

Re: 981 Boxster Electric Power Steering
Further work with the log has revealed that the unit needs only these CAN addresses:
0x100
0x103
0x105
Electrical connections are +12V, -12V and 3 signal pins: Can+, Can-, and T15. I have noticed that after power up and initialization, the rack no longer needs T15 and 0x105. It will work with only ...

Re: 981 Boxster Electric Power Steering
Thanks for the log, Mitchy. The assist does work with the log (I was beginning to wonder if my rack was bad). I'm starting to look into what commands are needed and will update with my results.

Re: 981 Boxster Electric Power Steering
I should be able to get some logs for you today. Weather is cooperating for a run around the block.
I can also send along some code to generate motor_03 if needed.
Thanks. Even a log sitting at idle would be a good start. Thanks also for the code, i I did see the earlier example. I'm just ...

Re: 981 Boxster Electric Power Steering
The MQB steering rack logs have ESP_21 and Klemmen_Status_01 but not Motor_03. I plan to add it to an MQB log to see if it will work. From what I can find, Motor_03 needs to be transmitted every 10ms but I don't understand how to create data for it. What would be valid data to try for Motor_03?

The Can addresses it sends out are:
0x09F
0x11D
0x32A
0x6C9
I have tried playing the full driving and 0x0FD logs from the MQB Reverse Engineering topic without success. I will try them again.

981 Boxster Electric Power Steering
I'm wanting to use a 2013 Boxster electric steering rack, p/n 001.347.005.09 in a conversion. I have been able to power it up and see communication on the can bus, but have not been able to get beyond failsafe mode. I have tried playing back logs from the MQB and Mini Cooper power steering posts on ...

Had a similar leak in my SDU. Found that the temperature sensor wire plug was not fully seated. You can see the photos and description here: viewtopic.php?t=4143

Re: Tesla SDU temperature sensor loose
Had a similar problem on my SDU. Discovered the temperature sensor plug was not fully seated. From the inverter side, the plug cannot be completely pulled out because of a stop. When out as far as it will go, you can feel the o-ring engaged in the hole. Pushed further in, the o-ring disengages. Mine ...

Battery Box Layout For Taycan Modules
I'm working on designing a battery box with Taycan modules. The shape of the box from the side looks like an inverted L. In order to minimize parts, I would like to place modules on both sides of a cooling plate. This would require modules 1 & 2 to be right side up, modules 3 & 4 to be upside down ...

Battery Box Design Features For Humidity
I'm in the process of designing my battery box. Checking the forum and wiki, it seems the general consensus is that it is better to seal the box. My climate has an annual temperature range of -5 to 40C. Is it a good idea to include some sort of pressure equalization valve and/or a drain for moisture?

Re: [Help] Model 3 PCS board wont work
Yes when supplying just 12v and ground the power light stays on but actty led does not light. Any ideas on what I could try or test to further figure out the issue? I’m just stuck here
Just to confirm, did you disconnect from the PCS for this test? Also, you might try removing the wifi board ...

Zombieverter Can Wiring For BMW F Series Shift Lever
I have hooked up the Zombieverter and shifter on my bench and it works beautifully. Thank you to all who developed this feature. I tried it with Can buses 1 & 2 individually and together - all worked. Does the Zombieverter use the redundancy of the 2 buses, or is there a reason to connect both buses ...

Re: Zombieverter and Tesla SDU Openinverter
I assume the CAN-able bootloader is flashed to the VCU as well?
Is there a way I can verify the version of the bootloader? I'm using the version that came with the Zombie board.
I looked into boot at powerup more closely. The Zombie will send the "hello" frames on 0x7DE until it gets a ...

Re: Zombieverter and Tesla SDU Openinverter
What are the settings of your CAN logger when logging? Is it set to listen only?
It sounds like possible that Tesla SDU does not acknowledge any CAN frames.
I found the settings. My logger was set in normal mode. When I changed to listen only, the Zombie does not start the SDU. It does start ...

Re: Zombieverter and Tesla SDU Openinverter
In trying to get as close to Damien's implementation as I can, I added an ISA shunt to the bus (I don't have any of the other components). It is stubbed about 1/3 of the way between the Zombie and SDU and is unterminated. With power to the shunt, Zombie DOES start the SDU. To summarize the rest of ...

Re: Zombieverter and Tesla SDU Openinverter
I tested with SDU power supplied by a relay controlled with the inverter power relay pin. It seems to be part but not all of the solution. It does not put the SDU in run mode alone. When I tried to get a log, it does put the SDU in run mode. I believe I isolated the difference: when the logger is ...
