Trying to keep the joints to a minimum

Finding unshielded 16mm HV cable seems to be a struggle too.

Anyone know a cheap source of the interconnect cables? I'm doing two 3 module packs so need some more of the longer cables.

Not sure if this is a bug but bool BMSModuleManager::checkstatus() always returns true no matter the value of modules[y].getError(). So resetbalancedebug is always being called.

Good work on the code! Looking at the BMW repair instructions for replacing modules there is nothing obvious about re-coding the CSC. The repair instructions say to scan the battery module serial and record its position in the pack. Usually if there is some recoding needed the TIS will guide you ...

Parasitic draw is a good question. Can you simply remove the 5V from the CSC's or do you need to sleep them? Probably best not to pull the 5V while balancing.

Picked up a 530e pack today and it has good cell voltages. The pack is a work of art! Over engineered does not come close to describing it.

Picking up a 530e pack on tuesday. What are the fasteners that hold the lid on? They look like torx but the pics are not quite clear enough. I want to pop the lid and make sure it still has charge (sat for almost a year) before driving 200 miles back home with a 120kg paperweight.

Ah cool, we don't need to reinvent the wheel by interfacing with the BQ chip. It just means there is a BMW special layer in the way

Has anyone worked out the full pinout of the 12 way CSC connector?

Do the CSC modules communicate via CAN or do they connect the BQ76PL455A chips together with the COMM/FAULT lines and then the BMS does the CAN interface? The wiring diag doesn't really give any clues.

Ta! I would hope that something from Samsung would be good. I have had experience with a BMS where the voltage taps were effectively a giant resistor ladder to ground and would kill batteries in no time if left.

Very interested here but not after many modules as I'm doing an HEV retrofit rather than a straight EV.

Although I have been looking at Tesla SDUs and if one would fit in the back of my E39 touring Too many started and not finished projects in the way though.

Got my eye on one on ebay but the seller has just admitted it has been sat for almost a year. What is the likelihood of it being kaput after being sat for so long?

Where to people find their parts at sensible prices? I'm after a BMW PHEV battery and there are some on ebay but are there other/better places I should be looking? Are there any specialist breakers or similar?

They looked bigger in the video But that is really quite compact for the capacity. Now to find a good cheap 5 or 7 series pack and start messing with the CAN.
