Re: Follow up to the video "What Voltage Do Toyota Hybrids REALLY Use?"

That would make sense. The numbers are straight out of the app Car Scanner (v. 1.67.9 carscanner.info) and the effect is the same when displayed in the app. I'll try to see if we can get some full throttle data to compare the highest voltages observed on the bus directly with the numbers in Damien's ...

Re: Follow up to the video "What Voltage Do Toyota Hybrids REALLY Use?"

Here's a plot of the DC bus and battery voltages as reported by the OBD interface that my wife made from a 1.5h drive in her Gen2 Prius. Interestingly, the DC bus voltage is actually reported to be lower than the battery when the car is driving very slowly. These data are from stop 'n go traffic in ...

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

I'm a little confused about the current sensing. If I understand the Patreon schematic correctly, both GIVA and MIVA are connected to the same input on the MCP602SN op-amp via individual resistors (and similarly, GIWA and MIWA are joined).

I thought GIVA and GIWA are the current sensors for MG1 ...

Prius Gen 1 inverter

Has anyone managed to run a Gen 1 Prius inverter? There's some interesting info on the development history of the NHW11 (2000-2003) Prius from an even earlier Japan-only predecessor in this paper written by Toyota engineers: "Development of Electric Motors for the TOYOTA Hybrid Vehicle “PRIUS ...

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

Would it help you if I donate a gen 2 Prius inverter to you? I have one that's mostly complete and would be happy to leave it in your capable hands.
Damien already has at least one Gen2 Inverter, what he doesn't have is an identical Gen2 specific control board.

Ahh, I see. That might make it ...

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

Excellent. Dont forget to save parameters. Now when you command a certain id you will get that current or close enough. The parameter file I shared was from a gen 3 inverter so that does indeed need a pin swap. I don't have a gen 2 controller otherwise I'd make a video showing how to do all this ...

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

Here's a detailed disassembly report that includes pictures of the rotor - Figures 4 &9. Looks like 8 magnets / 4 pole pairs.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread

This reverse engineering report might be useful. It says 8 poles for both MG1 and MG2 on pg. 10.
