Re: '73 VW Tesla Bus and '49 Pontiac
Anyway, onto some other current issues with the VW Tesla Kombi.
It currently has DC charging via CHAdeMO and the Orion BMS, and 6.6kW AC charging via Mennekes Type 2 port. How hard would it be to swap the CHAdeMO over to CCS2 using the Focci board (or something else), and keeping everything else working fine with the BMS? I'd prefer to keep the Type 2 port as it is, as it fits nicely in the old fuel filler port, but a CCS2 port won't.
I've also bought some drum brakes from a Cupra Born EV that use a motor actuator EPB on each drum. I'd like to incorporate that into the T2 and do away with the mechanical cables, handbrake lever etc. I'll post some pics soon of these actuators/drums.

This thread asks practically the same, short of it is, not easily two seperate charge ports makes things easier.deadsled wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:12 am How hard would it be to swap the CHAdeMO over to CCS2 using the Focci board (or something else), and keeping everything else working fine with the BMS? Twoo ports would be easier as the orion handles Type 2 and Foccci only DCFC, all depends on how your Orion gets power and what controls the contactors.
Putting the Orion into charging mode should be easy enough by using diodes two allow power from what ever is in there now and a relay switched by Foccci.

So you mean it's not easy, but two separate ports does make it slightly easier?
I'll look into how the BMS wakes up when using CHAdeMO and report back, thanks!

Anything is possible if you know what you are doing.
Do you have a wiring diagram for you current setup? Also a diagram of your HV layout will be handy to look at, specially how the contactors are controlled and where your fuses are ect.
