Series 2 PHEV Rear Differential for £399 on eBay.co.uk. Nice transverse arrangement. Appears to also be found in the Mini Countryman PHEV too, but they're a bit younger and more expensive, but probably more popular and more coming down the line. Couldn't find anymore tech specs other than mentions of power when in electric mode only.

Should deliver about 88hp / 165Nm
I seem to pickup rumor this motor is the same as the one in I8. So performance motor offers should be the same, its the inverter that is derated.

The articles I read about it suggest that it is the same as the i8, but with everything turned down. The ICE primarily.

Perhaps we could turn things back up :)

I had contact with that guy, he's at a few kilometers from here. Seems to be scrap / RMA goods, most likely all defective.

Renault Zoe with a very low starting price. Not charging so may be an easy fix or a good parts car

Known faults or issues:
Very Low Battery
Charging issue – Wont charge

That means BMS error or one or more cells went to the low end. Battery could still be good for manual charge...
Or one could just take the car and fit their own battery to the box... It seems a waste to just break the car apart...

Edit: Ok the steering wheel is on the "right" side so...

I got both from the guy and the Gen 3 had all 3 chargers light up with 12v applied to it according to the instructions in Damiens video. It’s an EU version and the Tesla seal had not been broken AFAICT. So it’s not a complete lemon and once I get the board from Damien I’ll report back about my progress.

The M3 PCS looked a bit more beaten up, I have not connected power to it yet but once I know more I’ll report back as well.

There is an ebay vendor in Los Angeles area that has lots of very interesting items available for EV Conversions, including ISA shunts and contactors.

I have bought from him in the past and he has never failed on these purchases.

I would suggest check him out but coordinate here so forum members will not start bidding against each other.

The items listed are here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/6scooter13/m.h ... pg=&_from=

Anyone know how easy these are to break up and reuse in an EV project? I wouldn't want to make an offer on it and find the cells are impossible to remove.
Thanks.

Sorry to be a pain guys but I'm seriously considering buying this pack as it is so close to me and seems a reasonable price.
Can anyone advise if I will have issues charging, discharging and balancing the Samsung SDI cells?

Thanks

I have the modules from a Golf GTE, I know both the passat and golf modules cannot be balanced as of yet.

I think the passat has Samsung cells, the bms slaves respond to the same wakeup command as the slaves on the Panasonic cells I have.

https://github.com/Tom-evnut/VW-bms, I've not seen any mention if it'll work with a E Golf pack,

If you do for for it, please do document on the wiki, rstevens and myself have been filling in as much as we can find on our respective packs, under the volkswagen section.

If using the slave modules that come with the pack is not an option then is it is possible to bypass them and use a different BMS.
I had planned to use a Leaf BMS with the rest of the leaf running gear I have. I know they have different numbers of cells but I was hoping there would be ways to get past this.

Take a look on the wiki, if the modules are the same it would be possible to use a 3rd party bms, each terminal is very easy to access.

You can reuse the slaves, at least for the GTE packs, for cell voltages and temperature, it's just that the balancing hasn't been figured out and shared.

Thanks Bigpie.
I started a new thread in the VW section to continue this conversation.

Lots of Eltek 3kw chargers, have used some of them, they are CAN bus operated.
100-250VAC input 250-420VDC output.
Now they are really cheap!

Not ebay, but noticed some wallbox charge points on bidspotter UK. If you've not used before, unlike ebay there are auction fees and vat ontop so make sure to check the terms and conditions ☺️
