I was thinking of just bridging it but decided the current rush might damage the capacitor and that wasn't worth it at this stage. I'll see if I can get a resistor tomorrow and I'll disconnect the ptc and bridge the interconnect to see if that does it. It didn't blow the resistor to bits so I was getting varying voltage across it but was open when I checked it out of the car. Pinned out out the contactor windings and checked resistance across the contractors during command tests - the varying voltage swayed me to change that incase the contacts were poor under load but nil fix.
