just want to share some screen shots with those who are still waiting on their Zombies to arrive
we find the dirmode [direction mode] under the Parameters aka "Settings" section in the Open Inverter web interface for the ZombieVerter VCU accessible via WiFi
Button is our first choice. This option is designed for one or two momentary press buttons to put your car in either Drive aka Forward direction or Reverse. The way this works is you press a button and you are in that mode until you press the other button

ButtonReversed is our third choice. You would use this if say you took a rear motor from an OEM vehicle and flipped it to install it in the front of your new vehicle. The default forward direction would now spin your wheels backwards, so ButtonReversed takes care of this situation.

DefaultForward is our fifth choice. This setting tells the VCU that as soon as we turn the key to the Run position we are ready to Drive, without any signals, buttons, switches going to Pin 53. This may be all you need for the Lexus GS450h rear wheel drive transmission as it has a traditional internal reverse gear inside the transmission so you just use the floor shifter to manually put it in Reverse. The motor still spins forward but it is the counter gear mated with the reverse gear that makes the car go backwards. So no wire on pin 54 needed to go in Reverse.

OMG, as my old boss would say, at least he's consistent !
these are the two pins needed for the Forward and Reverse Switch, but there are many ways to skin this cat
the switch is hugging the fuse block just for the photo opp, that's not where it will be permanently mounted

I presume you know this, but the reason the pins on a switch are counterintuitive, is because the switch has a pivot in the middle. Like a teeter totter, when one side of the lever goes up, the other side goes down. So the back end of the lever that actually does the switching, points to the opposite side of the enclosure and connects those contacts.
Speaking of switches...
What a dreadful naming convention from Damien. "Button" vs "Switch". They're both switches, one is momentary the other is latching. But I have button-style switches that latch (like clicking in the end of a pen, say, like, the power button switch on most cheap tabletop computer speakers), and I have momentary toggle switches that don't latch.

I was going to use the start position of my ignition switch to enable drive, but in my car the Ign pos 1 and 2 are disconnected from the battery when I do. Probably to ensure the starter gets 100% of battery power but I was disappointed when I discovered this as it caused issues else where.
It's not ideal but drive is enabled as soon as I turn to pos 2.
But I'm not using Zombie so I'm missing a lot of the benefits of it.
