One question please.
Are you looking at running just Mg1 at this stage?
Yes sir! plan on dyno testing it to see how much horse power it actually delivers to the wheels

That will be interesting, informative and a great help.
Thanks.
To utilize mg1, are you locking the ic engine input, or welding the powersplit device.?

some say he once had 300 meters of different coolant hoses yet still had to go out and buy 20 feet of 5/8ths hose to plumb the electric Rabbit

so here is the water pump from the same 3rd gen Prius as my inverter and transaxle, it's a simple 4 wire jobbie with: ground, pwm in, pwm out, and 12v, not necessarily in that order, I hope to get the pwm fingered out but for a test drive I may just run it at full speed, what say you?
I can't speak specifically to the Gen3, but the Gen2 Prius pumps have given me nothing but trouble, up to and including one catching fire. I've gone through at least 5 that just died too.
I'm moving the whole car over to VAG/Bosche pumps, they seem to have a better reputation.

I can speak to this as well, salvaged water pump in general have caused much grief. But all the Prius ones I’ve used died on me.

Re your cooling circuits, can the temp of mg2, mg2 be reported on the Zombieverter web interface, ?
Trying to find how to do this if possible. Thnx

Have you tried Tesla/Nissan Leaf coolant pumps. I've not heard of them failing and it's very easy to control their speed.

I have not; I've mostly looked for pumps that can be run as simple on/off. It's better for my application.

What are you using for a BMS do the BMW batteries have a bms attached from original ?

Tesla/LEAF pumps will run at a constant speed with just 12v.

I totally agree and that's why I picked the Rabbit, it has manual steering and manual brakes. Having said that I heard good things about this Mercedes pump and all it takes is two wires, + and - and it just runs. Any of youz have experience with them?

I do not run BMS in Phase I of my projects, but plan for it down the road. Yes the OEM BMW modules each have their own slave BMS boards (black boxes) connected and then there is a Master BMS board (black box) which I have removed from the battery pack just for the hell of it as we have not reverse engineered that OEM component yet (and by WE, I mean smart humans on here, and not me)

thank you Jimmy, are you implying that Tesla and Nissan use the same BOSCH pumps? I am not questioning you just asking since I know noffin' about the Leaf pumps, I do however run the Tesla Model S pump in my truck and it works great, I just wanted to use as much Prius junk in the Rabbit as possible for some random reason, maybe thinking if someone was to buy an entire wrecked donor Prius to see how much stuff they could source/harvest out of it type of thinbg.

I use them... or their similar case from VW, Audi... word is Auxilliary pump.

As far as I know they were using the same pumps a few years ago but don't know about now.

I was mostly talking in reply to P.S.Mangelsdorf and Alibro, but yes, the LEAF/Tesla pump is pretty close if not identical to the Bosch pump. The difference is that they have 4 wires, but you can run them with just 12v and ground. The extra two wires control speed if you want. Just more options.

DIY EV Conversion More Low Voltage Wiretization '84 VW Rabbit ZombieVerter
got schooled on the "alternator wire" sort of speak that runs from the 12v positive stud on the Outlander Charger to the regular car battery and was told it don't need no fuse (as it blew a 7.5A, a 10A, and even a 20A one) and needs a B.A.W. (big donkey wire) so I went and found the biggest battery wire I had in my stash and replaced that thin little 16 gauge one

Some progress which night be helpful
Measuring mg1/mg2 tmpm
Regarding that there is only one motor temp reported, the highest one,
Have now hooked up the temperature sensors to the Zombieverter.
Reads 13.09 °C thermal camera indicates 13.8°C on the bell housing area . This would appear to be Mg1 temp
With Mg1 Sensor disconnected,
Reads 10.9° C , So assume this is Mg2.
Will run one motor at a time next, against brakes to confirm temperature rise is looking honest.
A simple disconnect on each sensor in turn can determine which is the higher temperature, and also indicate the lower temp, ( when the higher one is open circuit) a workable result, thanks for the pointers , much appreciated.
