Great work Greg! I don’t generally like taking my bmw modules below 3.4v cell I start getting big deltas under load if I do, so what’s the max battery current you’ve seen pulled? Maybe log idc and udc and go full throttle so we can work out how many kw you’ve managed to extract from the Prius!

The Prius setup is current stuck at just shy of 20kW running just MG2. Working on sorting out the code like I done for the IS300h.
We should be getting close now, found some more logs to review.

I am following the work here with great interest.
And I thank you very much for the extensive documentation
I have/had also planned to use the Prius drive and had also bought the drive.
However, I have read that the drive delivers little speed. Unfortunately, high speeds have not yet been achieved with the Audi A2 project. The characteristic curves of the MG2 also show that the engine is not very revy and does not want to spin high (approx 3000 rpm).
I'll keep my fingers crossed and wish you every success in achieving top speeds much higher than 53mph.

hi, thanks for the kind words, I am sure you have seen WeberAuto videos where Professor Kelley compares both the Gen 2 Prius the one in the Audi A2 project and the 3rd gen which I am using. He mentions that Toyota in electric mode only, ie EV mode, deliberately prevents the 3rd gen from spinning higher than 6,000 RPM though it is rated up to 13,500. Just an FYI the second gen has a chain drive the 3rd gen does not. Now take a look at my log numbers and you tell me if it caps at 3000 RPM, posting raw log data as to prove no tempering, speed is the RPM spot value we are looking for below (the table below is sorted by speed, not by time for demonstration purposes)
Note how the torque in the last column is capped for some reason at 3500, that's what Tom is looking into, once we break that limit, sky (or 13,500 RPM is the limit, ha ha) keep your fingers crossed
video queued up to the 1st vs 2nd vs 3rd gen Prius MG2 rotor speed comparison

It's not the 3500 torque request that is the problem, this is the max value used in the GS450H, GS300H and I assume the Prius. The power is limited by values in the htm serial data. As far as I can tell the location for the discharge power is at bytes [78] and [79] which are currently set for 21kW.

Correct, they have been altered in test versions of firmware with no change. So the search continues.
Wait where are you referring to specifically in the code?

I am referring to the code. At the moment the discharge power is at byte 87 and 88 which looking at various logs is more or less fixed values and not the power limit, also a negative number which does not match GS450 / GS300H. Looking at both prius and auris logs the discharge power ( in watts/10) is at bytes 78 and 79 and the regen power is bytes 76 and 77 ( -Watts/10 ).
I could be wrong but these byte seemed the most plausible.

Okay so you are not looking at code but logs. As I have said we have tried exactly this and are currently in the process of trying other variations.

From some Prius gen2, and gen3, tampering with added battery packs, The limit of 21 kw which is the limit of what the boost converter can transfer. With the Boost converter bypassed, hopefully your expertise in code massaging, to free up this potentual available power will come to fruition, in near future..

So how fast the 2 motor combination with Zombie can go? Would this work better in a Prius if you just remove the ICE engine and and leave everything else in place?

these are all excellent questions, at this time we still don't know how fast we can even go on just one MG2 motor as we are up against some built in TOYOTA maximum speed limit of 52 MPH
in order to run both motors we need to weld the power split device inside of this transmission, something I am a bit intimidated to attempt with my 120 volt 20 amp MIG welder
and yanking the ICE out of a Prius to run it as 100% electric is an idea that's been in my head for years now, not sure how we would satisfy all the pesky is the engine present ie is there a tach signal for example requests by the OEM computer to do so, maybe we would run it with the Zombie but that would present the same set of problems
