I have swapped the entire subframe and drive unit into a 2013 TukTuk . I am having trouble getting the Smart battery and drive unit come online ( start ) . I am using a Autel Maxisys diagnostics and I am able to see , adjust , adapt , reset, and clear info in all of the other systems .

My question is , what would stop the contractor from activating? I am suspecting the battery crash sensor. Would there be a way to bypass it . It uses Can bus to communicate
And I dont know if I could bypass . I am the type of guy that can build anything with my hands but understndin the internals of the software is where I lack with this Smart Car. Here are the fault codes I have.

Battery crash sensor : internal fault , can not be reset or cleared .Image

Abs : every code possible

Air bag SRS : every code posible but nothing related to a crash . The car never deployed the air bags .

SAM : tpms, and rain sensor codes

Battery managment: AC cabin change over valve

Inverter : nothing

Motor ecu : nothing

.

The most likely culprits are the crash sensor as you suspected and the battery management system. It's the sort of thing I could probably work out if I was standing there but very hard to diagnose remotely. Do you have any can captures from the vehicle before tearing it apart?

I was given half of the Smart car from Rich Benoit. He told me it was driving before he decided to cut it in half . I was give the front end , battery ,harness, and all control units and drive train .

The other plan might be is to get the BM to work and use a TESLA P85D front motor if posible . I have all the parts laying around my shop . What are your thoughts ?

There is a known problem with Smart ED. If the 12V battery falls below a certain voltage, the BMS destroys the HV battery. Discharge all li-ion cells to zero voltage. So it is possible that car was correct before. The same thing happens if the airbags are activated. As a lot of time has passed, the HV battery probably can't be repaired anymore. Bad luck.
