Hi All,

We're trying to convert a 2007 Toyota Corolla hatchback to run as a BEV, and are ultimately looking to create an open source kit for the model, given that it is one of the best-selling cars of its generation.

The 2007 model was the last generation before Toyota launched hybrid Corollas.

Our question to the Open Inverter community:

Does anyone know if the transaxle from a newer Corolla would fit in the 2007 model?

You need to start looking up the parts catalogs online, to see what transmission is in your current vehicle and if that is also fitted to other models such as the auris. You could then look up things like drive shafts, wheel hubs etc...

Off the top of my head, I would imagine the corolla from 2007 would be similar to the MK2 Auris of the same vintage. If you could get a transaxle/drive shafts and inverter from a MK2 Auris hybrid, i can't see why they wouldn't fit yours, although some modifications will typically be needed.

We can now run a mk2 Auris inverter using the VCU board, so this could be a nice conversion route....
