General wiring question to screen or not to screen.

Which wire between motor and inverter?
I assume thick and screened..

Which wire between battery blocks?
I assume solid strip or core well isolated ..

Which wire between battery pack and inverter?

Which wire between CCS2 DC and pack?

Can some people shed some light on this?

Yes, this is where I'd consider screening most important

All OEMs use screened cable, I don't, and most DIY builders rather use welding cable. Passed EMC test with Polo without screened DC cable.

Nissan uses unscreened cable, only charger EMI to be expected here which is probably already below the limits.

I was wondering this myself. In my professional life, we screen (shield) everything HV, and even now run shielded CAN cables throughout due to such high EMI. I won't be running shielded cable anywhere on my conversion as my inverter is integrated with the motor (gen 2 leaf.) I also don't have much DC cable to run, and my DCDC & Charger are PWM controlled (Gen 2 Volt) so i don't expect sensitivity with those control wires.

I think one reason to shield the DC cables is damage detection. If something slices a shielded cable, a ground fault detector easily and automatically detects the fault. Of course in a conversion with no ground fault detector it's not useful, unless you add checking HV insulation resistance to your yearly maintenance schedule or so.

the difference in safety measures between our conversions and the systems I design for public use is ridiculous - HVIL and Iso Detection being the main pieces.

as an example we are using 120mm² single pole cables x3 (pos & neg) in parallel to carry the current we need.
