VERY odd request from a customer

One of my customers came up to me asking if I could build them an electric 2012 Ford F150 pick up truck with no batteries . My response was "OK?" Tell me more I said , They want a DC generator on the back with supercapacitors and using a Netgain HyPer9 motor . I told them It was not the best way to do it and they should go with just batteries and forget the generator idea .

My Question is , have you heard of anybody doing this with 'OK" results ? This idea does not sound efficient nor economical . The best part of this idea is he wants a fleet of converted DC generator powered electric drive Ford f150 trucks and rent out to landscaping companies .

What are you thoughts ??

Double your normal quoted price for a prototype build. If they wish to proceed then have your attorney draft a contract that outlines your concerns regarding performance and costs. If they still wish to proceed then get 75% paid in advance and pre book your attorney ;)

Not that i advocate this kind of a build...
I think they saw Prius fleet and maybe Volt car and they thought "look at it run".
I suggest you tell them PM generators are lighter and use Prius transmission and to generate power from gas engine. You maybe can splice PSD so both motors generate. Volt drive is too heavy i think, but would be worth a try?.
Then put a DC motor on rear diff and one of Pauls DC spinoff controllers. Instead of supercaps use a hybrid battery pack or combination of that and supercaps.

One guy used supercaps in EV in the past and he states they work.

I am not sure if this would ride for long, i think it would draw power quickly and went turtle. But it would be good in the city...
