Does anyone know what a safe operating temp for a phev charger is.
I've got coolant running through it which hits 41c but the charger reports a stable 75c when charging at capacity.
Seems a bit high to me.

I've had mine that high, not checked recently though. Which way up have you mounted it? It's layed flat in the outlander, but I've got mine stood up, and pretty sure I had air trapped in there.

Mine is flat and hopefully no air as i fitted a bleed point nearby but it is possible.
it does level out at 75. Do you code to derate or cutoff at a certain temp ?

Can't remember, don't think it derated itself, mine is generally at 55 now, but I run a fan on rad when charging

It self regulates, seen it above 90C on certain temp sensors.
the case itself also gets quite hot (30C+) even under "normal" operation.

Generally I see 50-60c on the higher of the 2 temp sensors, I do run a full size fiat cincento rad and the big brushless Bosch pump though

yeah i've got the original rad still in the car, but the pump could be bigger
i'll see how it goes, if it peaks at 75c i expect that is ok
