Hey guys,
I’m planning to convert a Golf MK3 Cabrio into an AWD electric car using two Tesla SDUs. I already have one motor, two OpenInverter boards, and a ZombieVerter. However, before purchasing the second motor, I want to confirm whether it’s actually possible to control two motors. Does the ZombieVerter support controlling two motors directly, or do I need to configure it as a single motor and send CAN messages to both?

Currently zombie does not support dual motors as far as I know

It is on the list to add. Will of course start with a simple implementation, like static request split between the two.

As you said you can always just have them listen to the same CAN commands, without any fancy logic being applied.

For now, the most logical solution seems to be building just one motor in the front, with the option to add another in the back later. I can’t imagine it will be that easy to synchronize both motors. Besides, I think the German TÜV inspector would appreciate the simplicity of front-wheel drive, as it aligns with the car’s original design.

It is very easy, all you are asking is torque you are not asking for speed.

Yes if you need TUV best to get the simple one done first.

Riding on two motors is very good, for example you can turn on the motors in different directions.

What Motors are installed in your car? How do you controll them both? What happens if one spins faster than the other one? I would love to have an awd golf cabrio but I am kind of scared its two much power for this little car

Front and rear EM61, Leaf Gen1, the torque targets are the same, the total power consumption from the battery is limited to 100 kW.
On a slippery surface, one of the motors tries to slide, and here the standard ABS-ETS system of the car helps, it is highly advisable to start it.
