Charging with Leaf PDM and Type 2 socket

I have just updated the V2.30 Zombie update on my Peugeot 106 with a Leaf drive unit and Orion BMS.
I can confirm that the reverse is now fully operational.

The Leaf charging fix for Low Current PP detection is still not working.
I use a 16A cable with a charger set to 16A in my garage due to supply limitation.
It works with Tesla's, a Zoe, Evora EV and Elise EV using the Orion for PP/CP control.
I can charge the Peugeot 106 using a 32A cable but the 16A one doesn't charge, only detects the plug in and starts the water pump.
In Spot Values PlugDet is on but PilotLim is 0 on the 16A cable, with a 32A cable PilotLim is 14 as reported by the limit in the EVSE.
There is a CableLim of 0 with either cable and PilotTyp is set to Absent or both cables.

Can it be confirmed that HVRequest now functions as I require it to use Chademo with the Orion.

Did you see that someone had issues and resolved it by verifying they had the right port used. viewtopic.php?t=6674

I am using a Type 2 port so from reading the post you mention above, I may need to add or change a resistor to suit the Leaf input.

After much testing using a resistor decade box connected to the PP connection, I now realise the issue is because I am using a Type 2 socket in place of the Type 1 that is standard with the Leaf.

The Type 1 plug has the switch on it that puts a 150 ohm resistor on PP to confirm fully connected and adds 330 ohms when disconnecting to stop charging via a shorting switch on the plug release lever.
Type 2 relies on a shorter CP pin to do this.

The reason the 32A Type 2 plug allows charging is because it has a 220 ohm resister which is close enough to 150 ohm for charging to commence.
The 20A cable I use in the garage has a 680 ohm resister which is too high to commence charging.

I cannot see a way round this as the Type 1 plug action is I assume hard wired/coded.

Check your wiring unplug it from the pdm measure if there is a resistance PP to ground.

Plug it back in and grab a few CAN Logs of various resistances between PP and ground on the charge port.
Id say:
13 A 1.5 kΩ
20 A 680 Ω
32 A 220 Ω

Then we can see what the PDM reports for values for the Plug detection section on CAN frame 0x390

OK I checked PP to ground has a 2.7k resistor as required on the Type 1 socket although I have a Type 2.

0x390 bit 5 reads 80 for no plug and 1.5k. The car does not go into charge mode

0x390 bit 5 reads 84 with a 680 Ω resistance. Car goes into charge mode on around 750 Ω (starts the cooling pump) but no charge initiated.

0x390 bit 5 reads 88 with a 220 Ω resistance. Car goes into charge mode on around 250 Ω (starts the cooling pump) and charging commences.

I guess all the above is correct for a Type 1 scenario where 470 Ω is presented as the plug goes in and 150 Ω as the latch is closed.

As the plug is removed the resistance will transition from 150 Ω to 470 Ω to disable charging before the pins are disconnected.

I believe type 1 cables are always tethered so cable size is not sensed by the charger and current is controlled by the EVSE on CP comms.

Type 1 cables have fixed resistors that are the same for all sizes of cables.

You would only be able to use a 32A cable with the leaf pdm. You can however use a transistor or something to connect a 220 ohm resistor to PP once you insert any resistance between PP and ground. (type 2 cable)

Can you rename this topic to something like, "Charging with Leaf PDM and Type 2 socket"
