As of Friday 03 April, conversions from thermic to electric is now legal! There are a few companies setting up to convert various types of Véhicules, with the cheapest for the moment around 11000€.
Some big hurdles to jump over though, but I will translate and put a summary in the discussion. Check out association l'AIRe if you are interested.
For now, no one using lovely prius transaxles and leaf motors because of volumes needed to offset huge costs...might just be a place for a Gen 2 kit?

Will get on to it soon. Distracted by a Gen 2 transaxle and inverter that's in the boot of my van since yesterday evening

First Update of French regulations is now in wiki. In short, practically identicle to German rules, WITH around 30000€ homologation testing AND no one off 'personal builds' allowed. Only registered and authorised companies to carry out conversions.

Uh that is far from German rules. Personal build allowed, no homologation cost here except a few 100€ for the inspection.

Sorry, I meant after coughing up 30 000€ for compliance, and having it done by a registered company, the 'rest' is pretty much the same. Will modify wiki to clear that up.
I am planning on a build with gen 2 inverter and transaxle and presenting it for compliance through my company I am setting up. I plan to convince the authorities that safe builds can be done and recycling EV 's is possible. Lots of bureaucratic stuff to work out, along with understanding the electronics side of a build.

Wiki updated to hopefully clear up any mis-communications. The German summary was a very useful base

Sounds like a great step in the right direction.
My plan would hopefully be simpler, to convert a gen2 Prius to full electric. And eventually a VW T5 and a Citroen CX to Prius power
