Alright guys, before finding about this forum and all, I was messing with inverters, which eventually led me to watch Damien videos. I have been out of the scene for a bit and now there is so much more options to choose from. However, I wonder which one can be used on the budget to control basically any pmsm with or without sensor like the VESC. Anyone can tell me if it exist? I think that the prius inverter had that feature once the board was replaced? Is there any other options?

I’ve been in a similar situation. From what I’ve seen, budget-friendly options that handle PMSMs with or without sensors are limited. VESC clones or open-source controllers might be your best bet, and some Prius inverter mods do allow flexible control after board replacement. Has anyone tested other mass-market inverters with sensorless support?
