Or.... only charge the 12v battery with solar and call that a day?=)
= DCDC will not work as hard when driving = range.
Maybe find a way to turn off(properly controll) the dcdc above a certain voltage of the 12v battery making sure it only used when needed.

Ran 4mA across the HVIL. Required 2.5V which seems resonable. Made no difference. Maybe it needs a combo of that and a signal generated from a master as you describe Johu. I doubt it however.
Here is the code I have been testing with.

Interesting. Worth a try. Measured between HV neg and one of the HVIL cables and got 12kohm. Doesn't make a low current chain improbable if its isolated I guess.

So for my e46 build my plan was to use a gasoline Webasto heater. However I managed to squeeze in allot bigger battery than what was first planned which meant that the reduced range by electric heating would have a smaller impact on usability.

Rolled the dice and purchased a passat gte brake servo. Essentially a Tesla Gen 1 booster. And it actually seems to fit on the e46 when flipped 90° to the right wohoo :P

The E46 master cylinder also kind of fits on the ibooster body. Even has the same bolt pattern as the passat one so I will try ...

Update time. Finally sort of finished the front battery thus making room in the garage for the car. Rather nicer to work on the car in 15°C vs -5 :D . The rivets need to be waterproofed and I think I will make an extra support under the battery.
