This was the same exact problem I was having. If you get the overcurrent code you should hear the main contactor click closed and then open again. It closes, senses too much current and the opens again. In my case it’s easy to distinguish the precharge relay click and the main contactor click.

Re: LDU/board troubleshoot help
I’m using a 12v battery for low voltage.
Damien refunded me and told me to contact Johannes to buy a board. Johannes said I should try to get the board I already have working as he is weeks away from having any available and told me to post here.

LDU/board troubleshoot help
Hi everyone. Upon the advise of Johannes I'm starting a separate thread here.
I've had a few different issues with getting my board to work and the results were scattered in the LDU support thread. I'm going to consolidate what has happened so far since I got the board and hopefully someone can ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
If you follow other posts you will see there was a temp sensor errors with MUX. There was an open task created and Johannes posted revised versions that fix that problem. The actual heatsink temp is 23c. Besides that the other versions fix the issue, you can graph the temp on this version and see it ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I set ocurlim to -2500 and il1 and il2 to -1. My contactor will flip without overcurrent but it doesn't change runability.
I changed udcnom to 0 and boost to 1000. The inverter will make a quiet whine when put in drive or reverse but the motor will not spin. This has been the case in all parameter ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I swapped a and b. In the stock and swapped positions everything acted the same.
I loaded the parameter file and the motor won’t turn at all. (If I change the udcnom it will run very slow and very jerky)
I have the encode mode now in AB in every setting I try.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Ok I double checked all the parameters and switched my encoder to AB instead of single.
Also the ilgain I think is accurate, if I change it to -1 it reads a positive number when it should read 0 (before the start signal happens). Maybe the multiplier changed with new software/hardware versions ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Gotcha. I will try to change the encoder. I have written down that you had it at 0 and my built board came with 0, that's why I didn't try changing it yet.
I did play with fmin, at the value the board came with, it would not start the motor. I'll try it with slightly higher settings.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Here are the last set of parameters I tried. They worked in all versions the first test and ran the motor correctly in V4.79. Now the main contactor won't close in 4.79 and 4.56, the motor will spin in 4.76 and 4.71 but the throttle hangs on even when the pedal is released.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I did some testing today and got some strange results.
Since I've been trying different software versions and different parameters, I decided to start from scratch and get a baseline for comparison.

I checked that yesterday actually, and the mode still reads off even though the start signal is received according to the graph.

I think my issue has one more difference than yours. When I hit the start signal my precharge relay does not open and thus I don’t think my inverter starts.

Re: Tesla Temp Mux Testing
I tried this, the error is gone but the main contactor still will not close when the start signal is sent.
I can still graph and show the start signal reaching the board.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
The throttle programming procedure documented is a little misleading. You don’t look at potnom to do it.
You look at pot in the spot value menu when the pedal is at resting position for the potmin number, then push the pedal and hold on full throttle and refresh the web interface to get the ...

I believe the pad is still connected and the solder joint is broken, but I will take a close look today and confirm. Here are photos of the exact errors I’m getting even when jumpering the bad connection.

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
I figured out the issue.
After testing the current sensor A circuit I discovered pin 2 on harness 13 does not have 5V.
For proof of concept, I jumpered pin 10 on harness 15 that provides 5V for current sensor B to pin 2 and all the values on the test points for the current sensors were equal and ...

Re: Tesla Large Drive Unit Support Thread
Looking at the schematic and pcb layout here are my thoughts-
The signal from each current sensor comes in connector 13 to IC13
Then the signals are sent to the current filter section to IC11
Both IC13 and IC11 are mirror devices, as in they have a common 5v and gnd and they run an A circuit on one ...

There are two smaller tabs on the bottom that ground to the case cover when it’s put back on. There is a longer tab on top that attaches to the inverter via a allen head machine screw. The top tab connector is attached to the inverter.

1. The “shielded” cable is not shielded. I ran out of 2 OT wire terminals and Autozone only had a 2 gauge terminal so that’s positive wire that wouldnt fit in the terminal. I thought it would be fine for testing since the amp draw is much lower.
2. I used the wiring diagrams in the beginning of ...

Thanks for the information. I will test the points on the board, test the switching without HV and let the forum know the results.
In the future I would be willing to make a comprehensive user and install manual pdf once I become more expert on all the features of the controller.
