Re: L210 gearbox

Yep. @andybpowell has it running in a Z3 (same thing mine is going in - hope to be wheels spinning in a few months), and Damien has one in his E36 - the Red Arrow.

Oh and Marvin on this thread too: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopi ... =11&t=6724

Re: [DRIVING] - Z3(00)

Fair enough. I have 5.75 nch headlamps using morette rings which are spring loaded and adjustable with wingscrews from the rear inside the engine compartment.

Interesting. I probably could drill out the captive nuts on my mounting rings and weld bolts on the front then have a similar ...

Re: [DRIVING] - Z3(00)

Might be worth masking off and using a marine sealant like black pu40 or sikaflex . Similar to when they bond windscreens in. Strong stuff. Used it to part bond a 2m cast iron keel to bottom of a boat. Can get quite creative with it. Gloves a must.

You could probably bash a bit of tin into shape and get it chromed.

Or maybe not.
Nah - no chrome on this one. Wouldn't fit with the restomod style.

Re: [DRIVING] - Z3(00)

Welcome to the world of kit and component cars. every one is different in some way. :) Probably some self fabricated tab/ears out of bits of a4/316 stainless steel will hold a lens cover in place. Quite retro too. 4 or 5 would suffice and be minimalistic.

Yeah. I was semi joking with Alibro. I ...

Are you planning to fit E type like glass on the headlights?
Cheers!

I have the glass (well, plastic) but no way to fit it at the moment. I need to find the right shape rubber profile and design and print some mounts for them. Will get to it eventually.

Yes it does looks amazing. I like the retro look and that midnight silver type colour looks awesome on that shape of car and with those wheels. You must be proud of how far its come. I would be. You now need a garage to keep it like that!

Re: [WIP] EV GT: Another BMW Z3 body swap

Given the car a wash and took a proper look around. Few decisions made though mostly cosmetic so far (wheels, interior). Main mechanical decision is to locate the charger in the boot. Going to swap my planned Outlander charger for a slimmer MG one as a result. This also give me the benefit of V2L ...

Belatedly noticed the earlier posts about nicked seals etc. If anyone needs spare parts I have two gearboxes that I need to get rid of. Available for collection in South Manchester.

Outlander Charger

I have a spare Outlander charger up for sale. Good condition apart from a slightly dented lid. All the original cables and connectors are in place and the coolant connections are in good order.

Available for collection in South Manchester or I can ship it for a bit more.

£75.

Spare Zombie V1 kit

Thanks to a kind donation I'm left with a spare Zombie V1 kit. Never soldered. But missing one of the ICs from the kit - it needs 3x FAN3122s to complete it. Available from Mouser/DigiKey etc.

I paid full whack for it a couple of years ago (currently EU350) but will take sensible offers for someone ...

[WIP] EV GT: Another BMW Z3 body swap

After a number of false starts and missteps, I am finally starting on my second conversion. Plan is similar to the first time: EV-swap a BMW Z3 and then body swap it with a kit from Tribute Automotive for a retro restomod style car. This time, something with a hard top. And more power. And more ...

Complete conversion kit - abandoned project. Free to the right home

I've just been to collect a bunch of parts from someone who has had to stop working on their project. The parts they were using were donated to them so they're happy to donate them on to someone else who will put them to good use. That means a running project, not just sticking them on eBay.

If ...

Been ages again... But if you follow the YouTube channel you'll be up to date.

In short:
- upgrade to 96s/six module gen 2 BMW PHEV pack
- redid motor mounts
- fixed gear linkage
- serviced flex disc and centre shaft bearing

But...heater still not working (haven't spent any time on it ...

The BMS now controls mine, just pinging out the relevant canbus messages when it's all plugged in. Is yours overheating maybe?

- BMS sends start signal to inverter (12v high - my OI/EVBMW board in there still ...
