Gen 3 Prius Contactor board.

Post by TheSilverBuick »

I finally had about 30 minutes to sit down in the garage and decided to poke at the Gen 3 Prius contactor board. The two main contactors drew a steady 0.45 amps each at 12 volts, and the precharge relay quite a bit less. Would these contactors need economizers? A general search indicates anything under 1 amp would likely be fine, but I'm not 100% certain on that. I could see the Toyota programming the ECU to pulsewidth modulate power to them after initial triggering, or not if not needed. Thoughts?

I think economizer don`t needed. But be careful with this contactors, they can handle not more than 100A current, because prius battery is to small.
