Someone is (again) famous!

Post by ZooKeeper »

One of our more active video producers is in the News here in the US :D

The article notes a certain EV Charge provider that effectively banned DIY EVs from their network over the weekend :O

If you want to skip to them: 2:06-2:16, 9:50-10:22, 10:45-16:02 (credited!)

It's not really a surprise, unfortunately it will probably be the first of many. At the end of the day it is their chargers. I'm not sure what workarounds other than claim ignorence

The Vlog brings up a good point, if you apply the "logic" of the offending Charge Provider broadly, ANY modified vehicle would be prevented from filling with Petrol or Diesel as well, obviously neither will never happen, but are logically identical.

It appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to do nothing more than cort and passify TESLA.

I did reach out to the SEMA Action Network, which usually deals with advocating for the car hobby at a governmental level, to see if they'd help. I'll update if they reply.

It would be good to get ahead of this, both for the relatively few of us building EVs now and the many more that will be in 10, 20, 50 years.

Interesting. Sure would be nice if some of these providers actually obeyed the chademo standard and kept their chargers working instead of this type of nonsense.
