LS600H transfer box for AWD

Post by nkiernan »

Considering selling a Lexus LS600H transfer box I bought to try convert a GS450H gearbox to AWD. Needs an adapter or separate mount. Turned out not to be a simple bolt on fix, so now making a divorced transfer box set up with the GS450H gearbox using another transfer box.

Send me a DM if interested, based in Omagh, Ireland!

Can you describe what doesn't line up if you try to bolt this onto a GS450H gearbox? Is it the bolt pattern and/or some other things?

When you remove the rear most tapered section of the GS450H gearbox, there looks to be a short 4" or 5" section that needs to fit on instead of the tapered section that provides the mating between the gearbox and transfer box. I suspect this just locates the transfer box to mate to the internal splined shaft. I didn't open the gearbox up though. May be that this mating spacer could be fabricated. You will see this section adjacent the transfer box on a LS600H gearbox photo. Not sure if any other differences.
