Diagnostics on Factory Components

Post by Lee Malo »

We use the Autel Maxisys MS906TS tablet to do most of the automotive diagnosing . We have been able to do almost everything the dealerships can do with this Autel . Who hear uses other Diagnostic software / after market scanners ?
I wonder If we should have a post listing all of the good Diagnostic scanners or software for future D.I.Y people looking to get into E.V Hacking / modifying . Maybe list the scanners by price , what cars they work with , Website link to said thing . I am just brain storming.
The stuff I know .

Autel scanners , https://www.autel.com/autelcms/ best bang for the price for an all in one scanner . Works on many cars around the world .

VAG COM , Audi , Skoda , Bentley , VW , Seat ,Lamborghini . https://store.ross-tech.com/shop/cat/vcds/ . Almost the best VAG software out there

Tactrix ( ECU Flash ) , Manly used on Mitsubishi , Subaru and some other Asian cars , https://www.tactrix.com/ . Able to flash ( reprogram ) and tune.

I personally have PC based software that can get around the VAG earlier immo systems and SKC / PIN number retrieval if you need it . send me a PM and I can send it to you for free.

Poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.

Took the liberty to de-capitalize the thread title ;)
Hmm, should I really list my 10€ Chinese CAN/OBD interface here? At least it did the job

I used torque pro only to find DTCs on Ampera I disassembled. Also it is great to clear the codes.

For CAN diagnostics I use Canalyst II with its own software. Really great tool with 2 channels.
For CAN commands I use Arduino DUE from EVTV, which is great and robust tool.

To get into Peugeot brain I borrowed original diagnostic laptop. But I wasn't able to talk to various components since I took engine and transmission out.
I was generally able to convince BSI(ECU) that engine is working by playing with relays and sensors according to schematics. So i recommend to get good diagrams first.
