Single cell high power LiFe/Liion pulse charger

Post by arber333 »

I got an offer from a friend who works with electronics for a very special charger.
http://www.eyra-elektronika.si/polnilniki.html
It is a single cell charger variant of AP-800 LCD.
It has a clever single button/rotary knob interface
Output voltage can be set from 3V to 4.15V
Output current can be set from 0A to 50A
It measures SOC and amps in.
You can choose bulk charge or pulse charge.
Price is 420€ with possibility for some % lowering in price...
If someone is interested PM me.
EDIT: of course units are newly manufactured, quality controlled and tested...
EDIT 2: He also tells me he can also build a liquid cooled pulse HV charger for 3kW with same LCD display control, or CAN bus control. Price TBD...

I provided reference to size :).

He also provided me with Texas university study that claims pulse charging can lower effective internal resistance in used cells therefore releasing more effective capacity from those cells.
User manual follows shortly....

EDIT: User manual as promised...

And some news from single cell charging.
Yesterdays linear charging result with an old 260Ah winston cell was at 220Ah from empty up to 4.1V!
Todays result from charging the same cell with pulse current was 250Ah from empty to 4.1V!

So i think evidence speaks favourably for pulse charging.

Hi @arber,

No v-sense connection on the charger?
I guess due to big cables not needed as much as other chargers...but it's also a safety feature for catching bad connections...

Sure, it has internal resistance checking and it is one of the parameters to set boundry for alarm.
I think Ri is measured between pulses in 30ms intervals.
