Combining multiple OEM batteries = How best?

Post by acollins22 »

Hi,

I was watching Damien Maguire latest video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjh6rvFDR-U in which he talks about using low[ish] capacity packs from an OEM.

He talks about combining multiple packs if you need greater capacity.

Is it as simple as just joining them in parallel? In my mind, if there is any difference in voltage between the packs, things will get fruity so how should it be done?

Thanks,

Andy.

Make sure they're the same voltage before paralleling. I keep my parallel connection off with contactors when not driving or charging.

Thanks Bigpie.

Does your system do any voltage checks before closing the contactors?

Cheers,

Andy.

Nope. Probably should for extra caution. I just manually checked first couple of times
