Hi all really basic question I'm yet to quite understand:
When people say Gen 1, do they mean the original EM61 stack or the EM61 and the original EM57 in the first generation Nisan Leaf (ZE0).
Therefore does Gen 2 mean 2nd Gen (ZE1) or both EM57s as installed in the ZE0 and ZE1?
Sorry, if this is clearly answered somewhere but I'm trying to find a definitive answer before scrape the webs out of my wallet.

Gen1 Leaf used EM61 motor from 2011 till late 2012Calorus wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 5:33 pm Hi all really basic question I'm yet to quite understand:

Then the same Gen1 Leaf used EM57 motor, which is the same design motor but without some rare elements
Gen2 Leaf is on sale today. It uses the same motor EM57 design while beefing up the inverter to give 110kW. Limiting factor is battery.
I do not know if inverter command interface is the same on new Leaf.
Re: Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Terminology
Thanks loads for the answer - so just to confirm:
Around these parts:
Gen1 = EM61 & Gen2 = EM57
Although around a more chassis focused Leaf Forum
Gen1 = ZE0 & Gen2 = ZE1
And most importantly, if I buy a Rev3 board with a Gen2 adapter, that will work with any EM57 from 2015 to date (not just those from the ZE1/2018)?

Re: Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Terminology
Like I said EM57 is a cheaper motor made for Leaf gen1 after November 2012. It is also used in Gen2 Leaf after 2018 with more powerful inverter and battery. So both models use the same motor. I am not sure about gearbox though. Might be different casing with different driveshafts.
