Hi,
I have a Tesla front SDU part number 1035000-00-F. It has no oil in it, so I need to buy some.
The information available states: Front drive unit part number 1035000-00-F and earlier: Mobil SHC 629
Unfortunately, I can't buy Mobil SHC 629 in the UK (at least in sane quantities). Would anyone be able to recommend alternatives?
My research into SHC 629 suggests that it's a fully synthetic industrial gear oil, ISO 150 with "EP" additives. I found this product, which appears to be the same grade: https://www.smithandallan.com/documents ... 20Oils.pdf
Would this be suitable? Are there any particular properties of SHC 629 that I need to be careful to match, or is there anything else in particular that people use for this gearbox?
Thanks!

Re: Tesla front SDU oil - Mobil SHC 629 alternatives
The short answer is "I have no idea". It's what they use in newer gearboxes, but that doesn't mean it's compatible with the older ones. Sadly I have no knowledge in this area.

Re: Tesla front SDU oil - Mobil SHC 629 alternatives
Thanks, this definitely looks like the right stuff. I've emailed the UK manufacturer who seem to do a synthetic ISO 150, to ask them if theirs is equivalent to SHC 629: https://www.smithandallan.com/products/ ... -pressure/EV_Builder wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 3:11 am https://www.ebay.nl/itm/Lube-V-Full-Syn ... 632-2357-0
This might be an option.

I've had a reply from Smith & Allan (UK Oil Supplier) who have stated that this product "Indisyn Oil Mild 150" is a direct replacement for SHC 629, so I'll go with it.

As far as I know, yes. The drive unit has been running fine with it
