Hello guys,
I have read on the ZombieVerter wiki page, that the inverter needs minimum 180V to start.
Does anybody know, what is the maximum voltage?
Will I fry the inverter, if I use a PSA 50kWh pack, which has 108s config, instead of the 96s?
(It has 18 modules, each 6s2p, so if I remove 2 modules, then the 96s config could be reached, but I would loose 11,11% capacity...)
thanks in advance,
Norbert

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
I would say max voltage for your normal OEM inverter is 400Vdc or maybe 410Vdc. Any more and inverter will stop generating PWM.mnmn wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 12:02 pm Hello guys,

I would say OEM inverter has overvoltage protection which will protect it. DIY inverters usually would burn though...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
Then your ID based pack can use only 8 modules also, otherwise that would be a 108s config also...
But the "remaining" capacity of that pack, is still bigger, than the PSA pack's.
Small capacity is not too simpatic for me... even the QC power should be set lower...
Not sure, that this is a good pack for me...
A Kona/Niro 64kWh pack would mean 98s, maybe acceptable for the Leaf inverter...
But they would end more weight and need more space also...
ID built pack is between the Korean and Stellantis, but costs much more, and almost impossible to buy...
I still can't decide...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
Page TMS-25 of the (extensive and free) 2014 Nissan Leaf service manual says the inverter input is 240-403V. I can't remember where I found it...
Thunderstruck says it works at 140V, but I don't know where they got that number.

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
I have 108S pack in my setup and has been fine for a year and 20.000+ km’s. It is full 9 module ID.3 pack. Running stock Leaf 110kW inverter with Resolve-EV and Simpbms. And max voltage is 450+ volts. The only disadvantage is, Leaf ptc and A/C dont like voltages above 410V and stop working after it. So I had to rebuild them with something else.

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
Thank you very much
So the inverter and the motor can handle over 410V. Great.
Did you ever measured the real power of your config? I guess it should be over 110kW

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
I have seen current draw peaking 300A, so way over 110kW momentarily.

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
Just a note: meanwhile I have found posts from Dala, and seen a info page on Thunderstruck.com, both talks about 425V as maximum.
However, it's a nice fact, that it can live with more too (raine's car)...

Re: Leaf inverter voltage limits question
Any one know minimal leaf inverter voltage? I tried spin AZE0 inverter with 210V and it work, but dc-dc in PDM not work at this voltage.

Did spin with 190V.dimonlipko wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:52 pm Any one know minimal leaf inverter voltage? I tried spin AZE0 inverter with 210V and it work, but dc-dc in PDM not work at this voltage.
