Hello all,
I bought yesterday a project from somebody else who burned is battery and inverter. I will make a post about it soon in projects section.
I opened the inverter today. Propably most dirtiest board you ever saw. I still gave it a try. Cleaned everything, 5V power supply looked blown so I unsoldered it and gave it external 5V. This gave me no voltage on 3.3V , so I unsoldered 3.3V as well and put 3.3V from external source.
Led 2 came to life followed by some smoke from the microcontroller. Led 1 lits up a little bit. Before the micro looked quite good.
I still have the hope to refurbish it. But something made the micro smoke. Do you have any idea on wich line to look for the short?

Re: Harvested SDU Board
I don't like waste, but there's no way I'd consider reusing any of those parts after a fire like that. As for the STM32, it's hard to guess whether the chip was heat damaged internally, or whether it failed because of a short circuit on one of its outputs somewhere else on the board.
Put it in the bin and build a new one.
