As you might have seen there has been some media coverage around our conversions in context of the Deep Dive Conversion book.
Now another journalist wants to make a documentary about an ongoing conversion. Is anyone interested in taking part?

Congratulations for the good reception of your book!
I'm living in Berlin and could imagine showing a journalist around my conversion project, if it's not too late already. It's an old Defender and I want to use exclusively open source controls, mainly ESP32-based.

Cool, nothing happened so far, I'll forward it. Do you have some more details?

My project is likely not far enough along for consideration. I doubt I will get started with electrification before Easter.
I do know of at least 2 completed projects that might be interesting though.
All in the Rhein-Neckar area...
Let me know...

I would also get in touch, but my project isn't ready to go yet either. The electrical part and the complete chassis are finished, but the body still needs a lot of sheet metal and paint work.

Re: TV coverage - Looking for ongoing conversion in Germany
Good to hear about other Germany-based projects. I'm not far enough either, as I'm still dry-testing the components in my room and the transfer case adapter is still in the making, while the car is waiting for its new motor. However, the controls might be of interest to some nerds. I thought of a system that freely integrates CAN bus operated OEM parts with analogue devices (vacuum pumps, etc.) and your original gauges - open source, of course. So we started an event-based multi-threading library for the ESP32, which includes all basic building blocks: https://github.com/marlinarnz/eVCU
My current build uses this library, but it's not fully tested yet: https://github.com/marlinarnz/eVCU_DefenderAPEV528
I'll start a new forum thread about it once the software-hardware integration is done.
