Leaf PDM to battery HV cable polarity help needed
Hi, does anybody know the polarity of Leaf main HV cable that goes to battery?
Thanks

Re: Leaf PDM to battery HV cable polarity help needed
As I discovered a while ago it is a good idea to put a couple of 240V light bulbs in series when connecting for the first time.
In my case I was lucky and only fried a couple of precharge resistors but had made the main connection it would have fried the inverter.

Re: Leaf PDM to battery HV cable polarity help needed
So this post enlightened me why my setup did not start, I have a conversion in the work, with a Nissan Leaf motor and Resolve Ev Vcu. I've mistakenly inversed the polarity, the plug that bolts on the junction box was upside down
. It made an electric arch sound when turning on ignition, and then nothing.
I have to say that the Resolve Vcu doesn't close both relays (only one click) and gets stuck when removing ignition, until I remove the 12v power from resolve.
The question is what to do next, what component fried and it is fixable?
Is there a posibility to have luck and the relay that does not close to save the components?
How to check the PDM and Inverter if it works?

What about the Leaf PDM polarity? Relative to the picture, the left side is negative and the right is positive, is this correct?

No! You have that backwards. It is easy to check, take a handheld multimeter, set to Ohms - select diode mode.
+ve to +ve and -ve to -ve the meter voltage measurement will slowly increase charging the dc link caps
+ve to -ve and -ve to +ve the meter voltage measurement will read one diode drop (0.7V).
I suggest you check all HV connections this way. Many people recommend putting a 230V incandescent bulb or two in series with the battery for the first time you close the contactors as a safety measure.

Thank you! I will repost correct pictures later today. As a courtesy to future people Googling Leaf PDM images I deleted the incorrect polarity pictures.johnlr wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 12:24 pm No!
