VW Can Log with Engine running
Does any one happen to have a can bus log from a VAG car engine can bus with the engine not running and then starting it?
While I have no dash warnings, I'm not convinced my ABS is working as it should and I wasn't smart enough to take a log before removing the engine.

After i pulled engine from Mazda ABS was working as before just on 12V. But some idiot (wonder who) went and cut ECU cables which were probably supplying some signals to brake booster or maybe GND level...

Re: VW Can Log with Engine running
The ABS is broadcasting it's own can messages, so I'd assumed it was working. Had a colder winter this year and ice so far so was able to test and lock the wheels up.
I'll consult the wiring diagram incase I've missed something obvious.

What sort of spec vehicle? I have a 2007 passat manual diesel 4wd or a 2009 A4 fwd cvt I can get logs from this weekend if you give me a good description of how to lol I have a working savvycan as well.
Both cars do have engine fault codes but abs and traction control works fine in both

2003 Beetle, but don't think they change the messages that much. I'm not sure where you could easily access though on those cars I'll have to consult Google

Re: VW Can Log with Engine running
Just realized I took one single log file before pulling the engine. Hope it's of some use

on the mk3 golfs the ABS was completely independent , on the mk4 golf (same as the beetles) the ABS should still be completely independent its only if you have a ESP where it would listen for engine information (rpm, torque) to then send out torque limitations (when required).

I do have ESP, but I'm sending the RPM, I think I might be missing the torque though. Thanks for the log, will have a look
I notice on your log for 0x288 Which I'm not replicating, I need to navigate the german in the DBC and experiment when we get ice again.

Thanks. I don't need one. I verify my ABS is working over the winter just gone

Re: VW Can Log with Engine running
as far as i remember the ABS works without many additional canbus messages,(defiantly standalone on the mk3 golfs) the ESP sends out max torque request to the ECU which you don't have so just getting ignored. i cant remembered if it looks for a reply from the ECU.
so your abs should work, your ASR might and ESP probably not doing anything. would be a nice add on to the inverter to read the signal and reduce max torque at the wheels when needed.
