second of these, I explain battery balancing for you with a few animations, and go into some edge cases too.


By the end of it you should have a grasp of:

• What is battery balancing?
• What happens if you have a weak cell in your battery pack?
• What is Active Cell Balancing?
• What is Passive Balancing?

That flying capacitor thing is very cool, I had no idea that was a means of active balancing.

Where would a shunt feature fall into this mix? I believe the concept is that during charging some current is bypassed around a high cell, but not sure.

Shunt is just a resistor across the cells. So that would be passive balancing.

This is great that's coming up. Thats exactly what I thought about BMS for a while. It took me ages to understand how simple they really are!
