Hi guys,
I was a silent reader for a long time, but today that will end. There are to many open ends in my brain and now I want to try to sort that a little bit.
First things first. I'm living in Germany in North Rhine-Westphalia. We have a VW T5 Multivan with a Tesla SDU. Basically everything works well. We had some issues, but mainly based on technical defects, bad connections etc.
The electronic is original, instead of the electronic boxes for the DSG and the 4 wheel drive, cause these components were removed during the conversion. The electronic box for the engine is throwing tons of errors, cause the diesel engine is gone. and we expected that. Our concerns are the errors regarding the missing DSG and the 4 wheel drive. Is it now better to get the box flashed to an original T5 with manual gearbox as a front wheel driven car or is it better to use other electronics. If you guys prefer other electronic how is the process to integrate it in the car properly?
That's for now one.
Best,
Bertram

Welcome
You could remove the ECU and generate its CAN messages with your own controller. T5 probably uses the same messages as Touran

Re: General Newbe Questions
Bertram, you're hardly a newbie with a Tesla-swapped van! Even if you didn't do it yourself, can you do a "build" thread with pictures etc.? It should interest a lot of people, starting with 5 from my family...

Hi Marcexec,
as I said a big part of the work is done by a company, but we have some ideas to improve that conversion.
For that I'll start a project in the forum to give you all an idea what's going on. That will take some time, cause I'm very busy right now.

Re: General Newbe Questions
Sorry was busy for a long time.
So the plan is to remove the original engine control unit and start with the Bain Board Rev3. I hope to get my problems fixed with the missing DSP and 4x4 control units.
I think I have read that there are possibly problems with the WiFi, if the board is mounted deep in the engine bay (in the original engine control case). Do you guys think it's possible to use a network cable to bring the WiFi into the cabin?

It's quite individual with wifi reception. Yes it is generally poor if the module sits in a metal enclosure but it can still be workable. For example in the Nissan inverter it is usable in Tesla inverters it is not.
In my VW ECU case it tripped my annoyance threshold and I mounted it outside, bringing the 4 pins out on the ECU connector
