What is current state of Gen3 yaris inverter + Gen2 prius transaxle

Post by kalebludlow »

So originally I started an EV conversion project years ago, but unfortunately it has sat unattended for quite a while. I'm looking to dive back into the project, and trying to wrap my head around where to begin. I have a Gen3 Yaris/Auris inverter, and a Gen2 transaxle. I don't have the control board yet, but want to educate myself as much as possible on what I need to be doing to get it all working correctly. At minimum I wanna get it spinning off just a few car batteries or something, but I want to make sure I have my bases covered regarding things like AC/DC charging and what I need to do there. I think at one point there was some funky setups with the busbars or something to get stuff to work? I don't remember Damian having so many videos when this project was first being worked on, used to watch them religiously and wanna jump back in but then I might have to subscribe??? I've got strong technical knowledge, just want to make sure I'm getting correct and current info as I've been away from the forum and stuff for a while, any links or even param configs are appreciated

Hello,
I'm currently in the process of converting my Saab 96. A Yaris Gen3 inverter is used with Bosch motor from Smart ED3. A test run in sine wave mode on the workbench already worked well. FOC tuning will come soon. I plan on using the charging feature (MG1) too, but I'm not quite sure how it works exactly. Maybe we can learn from each other.
