Bloomin typical, I couldn't make it last year as I was on holidays and this year I have a wedding to go to that day.
Sorry guys, you'l have to wait a while longer to get the opportunity to mock my pitiful efforts.

This event is now over. About 20 people attended which was a good crowd. There were 2 talks on converting motorbikes, with one fully completed so a history from concept to completion, the other bike has only started but already has a chassis and lots of main parts ordered in the last month.
There was also a show and tell of a Toyota hybrid which includes one unmodified car, another junk car for testing and lots of spare parts to help iron out concepts and for testing. Already the engine control unit can be replaced with open source hardware and the car driven in forward and reverse. Next steps are gauges for dash. Another side project is to convert it from hybrid to plug in hybrid using as much if the hardware in the car as possible including a worlds first aim of using the old inverter to charge the battery from AC without modifying the unit itself. The plan is to feed AC in the AC out compressor port, and get the unit to charge the batteries. This needs lots more work, but at least the guy has a few scrap units to play with, along with 2 cars.
Photos from the day are here
https://www.tog.ie/gallery/nggallery/al ... cle-meetup
PowerPoint from 1 bike project here
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/ ... p=drivesdk
There will probably be another similar event within the next 1 year.

Re: Dublin Meet Saturday, August 17th 2024 at TOG Hackerspace
I'd say 20 people was the peak, there were a few coming and going before and after, not even counting the two Tog members that got the compressed presentation on the RF, so around 25 overall?
It was a very good event, thanks again Håkan for the help with the iPDM56, I got an idea or two for next steps.
There is something to be said about meeting up in person and discussing what you're struggling with.
It would be great to have a retrofit car conversion (even in progress) to show the guests next time. That Karmann Ghia with the wonky engine was crying out for an Outlander PHEV rear unit...

Hi everyone.
Thoroughly enjoyed the gig, and as such there is even more to ponder.
Thanks again guys.

https://dublinmaker.ie/ is this weekend, I'll be there as a guest on Saturday.
Is there any interest in having a DIY EV conversion / OpenInverter stand next year there? I'd certainly bring the bike (again).

If I manage to make it next year I would bring the Freelander.marcexec wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 10:11 am https://dublinmaker.ie/ is this weekend, I'll be there as a guest on Saturday.

I would like to bring the Freelander but can you confirm if I be able to charge while there? I'll be arriving with an almost empty battery so will need to charge most of the day as I still don't have fast charging, obs I'll pay for the leccy.marcexec wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 3:33 pm It's official: Dublin Meet Saturday, August 16th 2025 at TOG Hackerspace
