The dc/dc itself inside this unit is very small. approximately 30x10x7 centimeters. The weight is about 1.5 kg.

Could this be separated out and used independently?

Weird motor orientation. You sure that this doesn't impact oil circulation?

It puts the pickup at the very bottom so should be ok.

I do this in all my conversions. they do not heat up in normal operation, only if you pull an electric winch. for normal driving and headlights work well enough without cooling

Took a spin out front of my house today for the first time. Only one battery box(170v), no proper mounting yet, etc. A lot of work ahead of me but nice to get it moving!

The car is now licensed, insured, and street legal. I've been driving around town for a few days. What a kick! Never driven anything quite like it. The first drive I had on the stock size tires and wheels-a bit scary when mashing the pedal. Today I did some trimming to fit the larger rubber. Front still needs to go down a little. I have fiberglass fender flares to go on, then paint etc. Still need headlights and some other stuff.

I finished painting the X earlier this week after working extensively on installing and blending the fiberglass fender flares into the body. I am slowly putting it back together while driving around town. Thought I'd share some pics. I still can't seem to connect to the wifi with my pone or iPad on the dash while driving. They need to be out of the cabin near the motor to connect.
