Yes it probably is, but I'm not sure if you won't need more devices for that. That's my point.Isaac96 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 4:21 pmDamien noted that the LIM can be configured with ISTA software! So there's definitely a route, I'd love to see how that's done.EV_Builder wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 6:40 am
Mhhhh that' might be a challenge I think. The LIM doesn't know it's VIN or the car configuration right now, Charger type etc. the solution might be doable though (grab copy of tools and a i3 etc.)
Or the LIM is not that 'smart' and gets it's data all over CAN and will be happy to translate ...![]()

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
So am off on another road trip the past few days (house hunting) so lots of fast charges. Circontrol unit #1 and I were best buds. Gassed up to 91% , terminated perfectly from the station. #2 started up fine but when I hit 85% it decides to shutoff. Restarting causes it to hang in state 5 (contactors did close and confirm closed) but would not move to state 6 (energy transfer). The adventure continues today ....

That's a pain. So if I'm understanding correctly Param::CCS_Contactor is reporting 1 but the state is not advancing?

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Might not be the cause , but esb have rolled out 80% charge limit on most ccs chargers. Session will terminate then but nearly sure you can restart. The tritiums have selectable mode on them to set max charge to 80 or 100%(some are changeable on unit others are locked)on Efacec units its changeable in the setting menu on unit.

We should try to add to our software that we know who took initiative to cancel the charging.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Yep contactors report closed on the web interface but won't go to state 6. Seems to happen on the restart atempt. First time on the Tritium I had 80% selected on the station and car was at 82% so it went to state 6 then straight on to 7 etc and shutdown due to soc. Next time around I selected 100% and it hung in state 5 until the station times out. On both ocassions I heard contactors close and confirmed on web interface.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
That's bizarre. When the contactors report as being closed it should bounce out of state 5 into 6...there's so little processing there. If the contactor state was something other than "1" then it could easily get stuck though. Have you got a CAN log?

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Sorry no can logs this time. I just commented out the contactor test at the end of state 5 so I could charge. Drove nearly 500miles over 3 days of house hunting lots of ccs sessions. Those 2 circontrol stations are located about 50 miles apart. #1 works fine. Charged all the way to 91% this morning and terminated the charge myself. Other one goes to 80% and when I try to restart drops from state 6 to 7 and shuts down. Tritium works fine with contactor test commented out. I will try and do some more logging but bigger fish to fry at the minute:)

Understandable. Needs must. I think with that change the event ordering problem CCSknowitall highlighted will not be present so hopefully no upset/damaged chargers. Good luck with the hunt.

This makes sense as a business model, as that's when you're not longer pumping the juice out as fast. Better to get that customer out of the line someone else back in their place.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
If you mount it like you did don't forget to add two new drain holes to the plug. I was studying mine (from ID3; i wanted 3phase) and what seemed like a cooling thule is drain water hole. But mounted 90degrees you need 2 new ones...

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Ok Damien will have a look at it maybe with some techies from work.
They are true code goeroes.
Another thing. Elon is gonna open up his chargers for us.
But Elon is Elon so slow charging cars pay more per kWh. Then faster ones. How fast can the LIM charge? Would 200kw work?

I call this one the mystery of the disappearing current. Two fast chargers 45 miles apart. Same make. Same model. Same company that runs them. One give me 125A all the time. The other.....

Could it just be that they are limited based on their available grid supply?

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Hi Mike is most likely correct , those circontrol units have only been installed to replace an existing 2x22kw ac charge point so far. As far as I know they are all subject to load balancing hence the 6kw 3 phase socket. Yes it does 2kw per phase I am not making this madness up.
Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
I have a few questions. Does this circuit is good for voltage sensing? Did find a pcb pic in wiki, but no pcb design/schematics was been included.muehlpower wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 5:51 pmYes that's right. I thought of a small circuit that takes over this voltage measurement. Maybe you can see if that works. It should make at 0V battery voltage 1.42V and at 500V 4.8V.Jack Bauer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 1:58 pm Now in the diagram you will see the lim (charge controller) A250*4B pin 5 is called U_HV_DC which seems to be the measured hv on the charge port via that little extra board on the back cover.
And the plugs that I specified in my previous post all fit.
Voltdet.png
What board can be used to send a can commands? Blue pill?
Pin 1B-15 is necessary to use?
Pin 1B-16 what is reference for it? 12v, 5v, gnd?
Pin 2B-6 needs to be connected to pilot pin?
Just got myself LIM, us car, us outlet, us chargers. Willing to assemble pcbs and test it out on our chargers.
Thank you folks in advance.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
The reference for 1B-16 is 1B 5. Unlocked 1kOhm, locket 11kOhm. 1B-15 is an output, you can use it for your charger. The status is also reported via CAN. On US models B2-6 and B2-2 are connected to PP. You can use everything that can send and receive CAN signals.

The mystery of the Circontrol station stopping at 80% has been solved. Of course It wasn't anything that I thought it was.

Re: BMW i3 CCS/charge port controller
Btw: Do you know the effect when the lock feedback circuit is not working/connected as expected? I’m asking because I’m stuck getting the LIM into charge mode.muehlpower wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 8:37 am The reference for 1B-16 is 1B 5. Unlocked 1kOhm, locket 11kOhm.
Plug detection works, I’m also able to initiate a charging session with the code provided by Damien. This triggers the lock motor and also lets the blue LED flashing.
BUT: The reported pilot state stucks in “PwmPresentNotReady” (1) and the LIM does not change the state of the Control Pilot pin.
I used GND as reference for the feedback signal since that was mentioned in the schematic of the Wiki page before I saw your post. But also changing the reference to 1B5 does not change anything in the described behaviour. Even omitting the complete feedback circuit behaves the same. I’m pretty sure I have problem with that. Double-checked the circuit thousand times, using the Duosida Lock with the 10K and 1K resistors.
Any hint is welcome. Thanks.
