So I had an oppertunity at the last ev conversion course to do some logging on a 2019 UK right hand drive model 3. Some charging logs up on the repo.

Observed a peak of 10.5kw and a dcdc max output of 250A at 14V. Hope to get the PCS wired into the E46 over the next few days and start to try and wake it up for real.

Some good work today. Pcs is mounted and secure as is the high voltage junction box.
Need some help locating two components. The 12v high current plug and a european AC connector plug. As my pcs was US I only have the single phase connector plug. The ones pictured do not belong to me so I cant butcher them:)

Hello Damien,
I had the same problem. My solution is 3D printing. The contacts for 400V are Uni F630 from MTA, part number 1107940. For 12V Kostal PLK 14.5, part number 23124734300. The connector for the data is from TE connectivity, part number 1318774-1 for white or 1318774-2 for black.
The European PCS looks a little different. The board at the inlet is lower, the lettering is different, and there are two more fuses.

Thank you for this bit of information, this is directly relevant to my day-job and may lead to funding research on this. Now needs to find a M3 PCS.

What I can tell you is this. When I had the PCS on the bench obviously I had no idea what CAN messages were needed to fire off the various functions and of course no one was sharing. So I used the fuzzing feature in savvycan to basically blast every possible message combination until something happened. A lot of seemingly weird stuff happened on the way to finding the messages INCLUDING AC APPEARING on the inlet pins , HVDC seemingly being generated from the 12v battery terminals and lots of other stuff I can't recall.

Soo, even connecting another car with jumper cables to 12vdc of M3 to charge the hv battery is plausible.. .. What wonders Elon has packed in the PCS that are not in use in their cars for now, will surprise us all.

Great video, thanks Jaanus! Diodes on the vehicle side mean it's clearly unidirectional. Though this wouldn't tally with Damien's observation of AC appearing on the input pins. More research needed.

Interesting that they use the 12V battery to provide pre-charge Neat idea - saves having a big, ugly power resistor on the HVDC side...

The Ingineerix PCS is from a 2018 US car. iirc Damien has two PCS, one from a 2018 US car and one from a 2019 EU car. I have two from 2019 EU cars and we have lots in The Netherlands from various EU cars including a 2020 model.

Like everything else that Tesla make, the hardware *will* have changed over time. At some point Damien will work on the PCS again and we will know for sure what is supported by the hardware that he has
