Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
if you have a gen2 prius transmission, the original equipment is a resolver, not an encoder. so choose resolver.

at 1 minute 15 seconds you can see the toyota colors and what works.
also notice red yellow swap may be needed for you. mine did.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Thanks imwoody26, set resolver in encmode and saved to update.
But even before this, I want to do manual mode with delta config ... Resolver isn't required right?

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
I won't do the same as last time. Going to close shop and start fresh tomorrow.
I'll check your last parameters you shared and see what I'm missing. Thanks

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Ok. Time to start at the begining. My plan for the video is to take a Gen 2 inverter and transaxle and get mg2 running with one controller and mg1 running with another. In order to do that the first step is how do we wire the first controller (mg2) to the inverter. On the wiki right now we have a pinout for the inverter connector but none for the controller and no diagram showing which pin on the controller should connect to which pin on the inverter. So before we go doing anything else lets get that part right. I'm approaching this as if I've never done this before.

If you like, I will post the latest pin mapping for adapter board in added sub folder for smd board.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Done, please confirm there are no mistakes (when you have a moment)
And, thanks to updating, I realised the modifications of pinouts now mentions "Connect CPWM to 12V via 470 Ohm resistor for charge mode" as apposed to CSDN Pin#29 in Main 32 pin inverter connector.
But CPWM is already connected between inverter and adapter board.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Great thanks. We need to get these basics out of the way first so we are all working from the same wiring and hardware.

I can send pix and confirm colors etc,and can have my staff try software, but im not at the Indiana office for the next week. im at the Florida office working on the LEAF powered boat.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
No need for software as yet. If we have someone handy with visio or some other drawing package lets get a nice color coded and annotated wiring diagram made up.

I am not at home either. In garage last 3days trying to get delta lights mode working
Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
I updated the Gen2 wiki slightly and will work on a diagram, but have never published one before so.... buyer beware.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Thought I would go back to 4.85version, as I had manual mode (even with 2 phases) now my board has gone to 'sleep'. The stm32_sine. bin file was uploaded and then wifi switched off. No flashing led

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Yeah. We all need to slow down a little in order to move fast. I'm working on getting the hardware setup over the weekend so with luck Johannes and I will be shooting next week with a view to having the video up on both our channels by the weekend.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
OK, thanks. Really sorry I couldn't help with basic setup. You guys have so much on the go, and I thought it was much simpler than this.... Not grumbling, just owning up to my lack of knowledge. I'm away next week, but taking board with and will 'try' to flash firmware somehow. It's scary, as I know even less in that field. The sine.bin and foc.hex files go to about 3% then wifi switches off. I even moved 'houses' thinking I was getting jammed..

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Even though I'm not using the Prius Transaxle... I think you guys going through this process will help me tremendously.
And, I think the adoption of this will become *the* beginner tool for EV conversions in the future.

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Took the liberty to add first 4 initial set up steps. I trust it helps and is not going to cause more work managing the wiki.
I will up load a picture of wiring diagram if I get a chance (in between moving house)

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
Is it just me, or is there no Gen2 Prius Wiki link on the Wiki homepage??? The only way I found it was using the link a couple pages back, but maybe I am just missing it on the Wiki page???
Wiki Home =https://openinverter.org/wiki/Main_Page (no obvious Gen2 link??)

Re: Prius Gen2 adapter board development thread
I suppose, since we're 'working on a viable solution' it is in 'Other Inverters', and then the Gen 2 link with Damiens blue pill and Johannes' Smd board afterwards. That's where I started adding steps and photos.
Once it's more documented and 'tested' it would be upgraded to Welcome page link before Gen 3 Inverter?

Excellent. I'll be wiring the vcu tomorrow and will advise on any changes needed. Once we are all on the same wiring diagram then we progress to the next phases.
