Recommend a good connector de-pin tool for Toyota?

Post by Dan--T »

Hello all,

Has anybody found a connector de-pinning tool that works for the modern Toyota connectors we're dealing with and the molex connectors for Damien's VCU board?

I've seen hundreds of the key ring type tools on eBay/Amazon but reviews mostly tell tales of them not working or terrible quality.

It anyone has used one already that they would recommend it'd be appreciated.

Thanks
Dan

some good reading on Toyota tool numbers in the below linked "RM1022E" Toyota Wiring Repair manual.

I bought the largest chinese de-pinning keyring I could find and it did have at least one piece that was able to de-pin the Prius connector.

I'd have tried a sewing pin or something like that if I didn't have the keyring.

Yeah I was also looking for the one with the biggest number in the hope that one would actually be correct, usually with cheap tools I end up disappointed though

Dan--T, can you post a photo of the connector you are trying to de-pin? I've been working with some of the Tyco connectors and have some of the puzzle aspects of them worked out.

It's just the Lexus OEM Hybrid ECU plug and the molex plugs for Damien's VCU that I'm mostly looking for at the moment. Don't have a photo of the Lexus connector unfortunately and car isn't accessible at the moment
