PLEASE HELP. GEN 3 damaged 5v supply
Hello guys I made a mistake when testing my inverter. I touched the +5v supply for sensors to +12 battery. I heard a few fait pops and a trace amount of magic smoke smell. The board leds come on but now I get the below incorrect readings on the various test points from the wiki. Can the 5v circuit be repaired and if so what components do I need to focus on? I have the ability to SMD solder. Thanks so much my friends.

If the logic board was connected to the inverter and current sensors at the time then it's likely they have popped also. But being Toyota they might just ignore it!
I'm going to need a hacksaw

I figured the inverter current sensors my be damaged but I have a spare Toyota inverter . I'm much more concerned about the logic board since it cant be replaced right now because of the chip shortage. I also had my EM57 resolver circuit connected I really hope it wasn't affected.Jack Bauer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 3:18 pm If the logic board was connected to the inverter and current sensors at the time then it's likely they have popped also. Do you have any tips that i can try to trouble shoot the board power supply to repair the 5v system? I also just noticed my wifi module is no longer working properly i can only view parameters but unable to update or transmit commands .

The wifi module is ok as long as you see anything. It's the blown stm32 that it can no longer talk to.

Oh no I was hoping you wouldn't say that, I currently get 3v from the 5v supply is there a possibility the damage was isolated to the power circuit only?

The wifi module is powered off the same 3V3 as the stm32. If the latter is alive you'd also see blinky.
Mouser has plenty of STM32F103RBT6 in stock.

Very good to know my board does indeed still have the blinky LED1 and LED2 and. So am it foolish to think there is still hope of saving this board?johu wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 8:10 pm The wifi module is powered off the same 3V3 as the stm32. If the latter is alive you'd also see blinky.

Since the main micro seems to be alive, I bet you can save it. I had luck replacing broken/incorrect voltage reg ICs...eventually. Tho it's kinda weird that you're getting a 3V, but not 5V. Check out the schematics on the repo for more detail on what/where to test. You might want a cheap ebay scope.invokeperformance wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 8:15 pm
