Hey guys (and gals),
I searched for Tesla Gen 2 Charger but only got results for Gen 3 for some reason...
I have the link from the Openinverter wiki but:
Could someone please point me to a "tell me like I'm a 5yr old" discussion about getting a Gen2 charger up and running at least on the bench.
I read through the Openinverter Wiki but left more confused.
I got an ST-LINK from Amazon. It has a USB on one side and a 10-pin header on the other.
It came with 4 wires like you'd plug into a breadboard. What do I do with those?
Now I'm given 2 options. One takes me to Damien's Github the other another post in this forum.
I downloaded the ST-LINK Utility and clicked Target --> Connect. I assume I'm supposed to be hooked up to the charger as I should see a screen "filled with a data dump of symbols." What wires do I hook up to where? Should I have 12v going into the charger?
I feel like I missed a chapter somewhere. Please help!
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Lost as last year's Easter egg. Tesla Gen 2 Charger
So far I have the Gen 2 Tesla charger, the EVBMW control board and all connectors. I also have the ST-LINK module.
This is the control board:

I have all the connectors soldered to the board and the board installed in the charger but I don't have anything setup as I don't know what that entails.
I feel like I missed the "introduction to the Tesla 10kW charger" page somewhere.
Other people have figured this out for crying out loud!
At this point all I want to do is access the Openinverter menu to see the adjustable parameters. Basically take the programming as far as I can on the bench.
I'm fairly familiar with the menu as I used the Openinverter (StealthEV) control board in a build I did with an LDU a few years ago.
Thank you!

I'm also working on this, though I don't have any hardware in my hands yet. This thread may be helpful: https://www.diyelectriccar.com/threads/ ... st-1077664
In it, he also links to a 'setup manual' PDF here: https://github.com/damienmaguire/Tesla- ... manual.pdf

Your picture did not load. What version of the board is it?

Following gregs info is a very good way to go about it, he even done some youtube videos on it.

Hmm...well, if I can't manage attaching an image, it's not looking good to get a charger running!tom91 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:46 pm Your picture did not load. What version of the board is it?

I have the V5 B3 board with, I'm lead to believe is the newer WIFI board.
Yes, I've read through that Wiki link and I feel like I'm missing something. Is it just assumed that one should know what wires need to be connected?
Thanks!
